    Soccer thread

Since we periodically discuss soccer here in the general, I think we should just confine it to one thread to reduce the clutter. i know some folks are annoyed by all things soccer. Fair enough. this is a shared space so unless somebody sees a reason to do otherwise, I propose we just keep it to one thread. (Same should go for politics, IMHO).

Anyway, just noticed this and I thought it might be of interest to some folks. ESPN to provide full coverage of the FIFA Confederations Cup in June. 16 matches in fifteen days.

USA got a bad draw but hopefully we will find a way out of the group.
In response to his pleas, an officer said: "You think we've never arrested somebody that's made national media? ... We deal with the Bengals all the time."

Keep stuff like this coming. Usually I don't pay enough attention to know when things
like this will be televised. With the end of the hockey season drawing near I'll need to
fill some time before the football drought ends.

LMFAO at "Corinthians (Fat Ronaldo's team)" !!!!!

USA didn't necessarily get a bad draw because in Confederation Cup all the teams are gonna be really good (for the most part). I'm kinda glad they got that brutal draw just to toughen up some of these young guys so they know what to expect in '10 Africa.

USA v Costa Rica can put icing on qualifying cake, they can cruise the rest of the way pretty much if they win tomorrow.

Good idea on the thread snarky.

man, Costa Rica didnt work out.....but we got Honduras! I was a little nervous when Hon. went up 1 - 0, but we rallied. Actually, we could have won that match 3 - 1

I don't know anything about soccer, but I know that the U.S. getting spanked by Brazil 3-0 ain't good. But it does give me a reason to post this:

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Wow. Just wow. Crazy escape from the group.

BTW, can we ever play Italy without getting a BS red card against us?

whoooooooooo, that was a great game!!! we could have won 4 - 0 if the ref would have called that handball (good no call though)....

    The first goal was amazing!!

I doubt we get past Spain but at least we avoided the first round KO.
