ORT Carey agrees to extension with Dolphins

The Dolphins agreed on a contract extension with ORT Vernon Carey, the club announced on Friday. Terms of the deal were not immediately known.

Carey was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 27. The Dolphins opted against franchising him or any their other four impending free agents, with the deadline for doing so lapsing on Thursday.

Carey, 27, has started every game for the Dolphins the past three seasons. He would’ve been among the most sought-after offensive tackles available had he opted to enter the free-agent fray.
