But yes, Delhomme had a terrible day and the Cards defense was not the only reason...He was throwing into clear double coverage that was not disguised.
McNabb....I'll just let his big game record explain that one....although he did look good at times and was able to move the ball. He did miss wide open WR's when it counted though.
Did Delhomme just have a terrible day? YES. The guy threw 5 picks. No D just forces 5 INT's. We were the best D in the league this year and no QB was ever forced into 5 picks by us. How about Baltimore? Did they ever force 5 picks?Originally Posted by Steeler Shades
In a couple of games this year, Ben threw multiple picks. How many times did we say "Wow, what an outstanding D that forced Ben to throw all those picks!" Good Ds force two INTs, maybe three.....but five? That requires a whole lot of help feom the QB.
As for McNabb, he did throw for 375 yards and 3 TDs so lets not go around congratulating the Cards D too much here. Of course we do discount some of that because they were forced to throw due to being down early, but it is not like these yards were in garbage time after the game was put away - like the Sproles TD against us. The Eagles came back and took the lead while giving up 25 points.
As for Atlanta, they had a rook QB who played like a rook, and a 24th ranked D that played like a 24th ranked D.
YES our O will move the ball on them. YES our O will score. D McNabb threw for 375 in that game. Our O will make the difference in this game. Theirs will only get 22 or 23 minutes of possession time, and we win, 34 - 20.
Yes- their D can stop our offense. A lot of things can happen on any given Sunday. Remember that Whiz knows our offensive personell very well and will be as ready as any coach we've faced all season.
Cards are following the same formula the Steelers use (any wonder). Stop the run on 1st and 2nd down, and play the pass on 3rd down. It worked nicely against Philly who has a decent O. If BA insists on running between the tackles with FWP, we better manage more than 3 yds/carry or Ben will need to be on his game. Remember when the playoffs started, we weren't sure which Ben was going to show up....he's looked good so far, but I think we still need to wonder about it....
I just don't understasnd how no one is talking about the Cards giving up 454 yards to the Eagles and STILL winning.
