Apparently we DID (not) GET THE DEFENSIVE STATS SWEEP!!

I can't see a date when this was last updated but as of right now, espn sats have our D w/ the sweep INCLUDING BEST RUN D. We beat out the felons by a yard. Looking at the game stats from sunday the jags had 118 yards in rushing while the stains got 104 on us.

Right here==> http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?stat=team&sort=ypg&pos=def&league=nfl&y ear=2008&season=2

Minnesota had the top rush D in the league. They have up and average of 76, the Steelers gave up 80....either way though this D is the best I have witnessed as a fan. I am only 33 so I don't remember the great 70's defenses but I think this bunch is better all around than the teams of the 90's. Just my opinion!

Doh! My bad. For some reason I thought it was balt who we were battling for that #1 run d spot, not minn.

Thanks for the heads up and apologies to everyone

Can someone explain to this 1st grader how these rankings are calculated? These are the stats from asSPN for TEAM RUSH DEFENSE http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?stat=teamrush&sort=att&pos=def&league=n fl&season=2&year=2008

RNK NAME ATT YDS AVG YPG LNG TD FUM LST
1 Baltimore 366 1302 3.6 81.4 77 4 16 8
2 Minnesota 371 1230 3.3 76.9 57 10 29 10
3 NY Giants 386 1533 4.0 95.8 67 14 18 4
4 Miami 388 1620 4.2 101.3 33 11 20 9
5 Pittsburgh 390 1284 3.3 80.3 41 7 14 7

Consider also that our opponents had 19 more rushing attempts to gain those 54 more yards that we have over minns total and in our last games the stains ran almost every play (6-18 in pass attempts vs 29 rush attempts w/ their whole game plan focussed on getting j-lewis a 1000 yards for the season. )

Minn was #1 against the run BECAUSE they're #18 against the pass. why run the ball when all you need to do is throw to be successful? That's why it's a crap statistic. Only PIT, BAL and PHL were equally effective against both run, pass and points scored.

Mel, click on YPG tab
That ranking is defaulted to rushing attempts

Thanks pp

We had 19 more rush attempts totalling 54 more yards rushed on us. In the last week, had not the stains been so persistent on running the ball constantly to get Jamal Lewis his 1000 for the season (he finished w/ 1004), it would have been in the bag. And the giants ran for 134 on minn WITHOUT Brandon Jacobs

Did any individual back get a hun on us this year? Seem to recall one but can't remember...

No, which really is quite something. Best effort was Jamal Lewis last week with 94 yards.

i was dissapointed to see jamal lewis barely get 1,000 yds for the season against us. i hate lewis so much. he wasnt hurt at all this season if im not mistaken, to barely get 1,000 yards is pathetic for not missing any time
