STEELERS FANS DISRUPTED REDSKINS’ OFFENSE

The Redskins were at home last night, but they didn’t always feel that way.

So many Steelers fans made the trip to Landover, Maryland (and so many Redskins fans were willing to sell their tickets) that at times it sounded more like Heinz Field than FedEx Field.

The Steelers fans were loud enough when the Redskins had the ball that quarterback Jason Campbell worried that his teammates couldn’t hear his cadence.

“We actually went silent count one or two times out there,” Redskins tackle Chris Samuels said after the game, per Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post. “I mean, Jason called it so we had to basically obey it.”

The Redskins stopped short of criticizing their fans for selling their tickets, although they weren’t exactly happy about it.

“You know, I’ll be honest with you, it was kind of surprising there were a lot of Steelers fans in the crowd,” Redskins coach Jim Zorn said. “It reminded me of the Super Bowl in ‘05.”

Added Redskins guard Pete Kendall, “I mean, that’s not the reputation or the expectation I had of the fans here, but who am I to begrudge somebody from making a profit by selling their tickets? I’m playing for money, and they’re watching, and it’s their right to do what they want with their tickets.”

Depending on which estimate you believe, anywhere from 15 percent to 33 percent of the fans in attendance were cheering for the Steelers.

And I definitely noticed it watching it on TV last night.

A buddy of mine was selling some games out of his Redskins season tickets. He sent a mass email out... I didn't see it for about an hour (darn meeting). I IMMEDIATELY said that I would take the Steelers tickets. He responded "Too Late. The faithful have already spoken."

The moral of the story is Steeler fans are everywhere snapping up tickets.

The other moral is -- Don't go to meetings.

The third moral is -- Get better friends.

I read through, like, 10 pages of that thread. Not a whole lot of whining, just really upset fans, that's all. We would have been the same way, only I don't think that would have happened to us. I remember being really pizzed off during that Monday nighter last year against the Ravens, when half the stands were empty at the start of the game because of late-coming fans.

the skins fans are really pissed, it was fun to read. BTW I was at the ravens game you mention and I just wanted to remind everyone of the Ice Storm that hit that day. The roads were da%n near impossible to drive on if memory serves....

The lead story on ESPN's Sportscenter was not about the game. It was about the Steeler fans taking over FedEx Field. The skins used to have a very loyal group of fans but since Snyder took over it seems like the only ones buying that product are the wine and latte people and we know how loyal they are ... right seahawk fans

I was at the game...and it was amazing to me how many Steelers fans were there! I know the article said between 15 and 33%, but really, it seemed more like 50/50! And it seemed like even more because of all of the terrible towels waving. Best moment was the goal line stand on 4th and 1...Steelers fans were yelling so loud, and our defense was waving their hands to pump us all up! I've never seen the Steelers on the road before, and it really felt like we were the home crowd! We were sitting by a bunch of Steelers fans, and we were having a blast!

I get so pumped up when I hear "here we go Steelers, here we go" at someone else's stadium...that rocks!

I've visited 3 opposing team's stadiums (Jax, Miami and Cincy). The common thread in all places was the respect other fans gave to me. The more intelligent and non-enibriated opposing fans were nice and almost in awe. They had no room to trash talk or boast. Our franchise record of winning negates all that funny business.
