best ever is hard to quantify BUT I still give the edge to the 70's and particularly Mel Blount. When the league has to change the rules because you're so dominant, that's impressive.........

what's going on this year however, is very special......

They certainly are playing at a very high level-

it will be great if they can sustain it for the entire season.

Personally, at this point, i dont think you can say this D is better than 94.

    Woodson, Lake, Perry, Williams
    Lloyd, Brown, Kirkland, Green
    Buckner, Steed, Seals

    Taylor, Polamalu, Clark, McFadden
    Harrison, Foote, Farrior, Woodley
    Kiesel, Hampton, Smith

    Position for position-

    Woodson starts over ike
Troy Starts at SS the way they play it now- but i wouldn't want to sit Lake, so I'd move him to FS. (I know this is cheating-but i'm making the rules up as i go... so its ok)
Clark is having an excellent year- its a toss up between he and Perry
I've got to take Willie Williams over DeShae- and probably over BMac
    Lloyd over Harrison.
    Brown over Foote
    Kirkland over Farrior
Green over Woodley (this is a tough one)
    Buckner over Kiesel
Hampton and Steed are a toss up- leaning towards Steed- Casey was better a few years back-
Smith over Seals- again a tough one... Smith is better against the run, Seals as a pass rusher.

I'll say it right now. We're a better O-line and a better OC away from being 8-0 at this point. As it stands though, our offense has some major work to do if we want to have a legit shot at the SB, not just making the playoffs.

Yup. When I posted above about that secondary in the mid 90's, just see for yourself. Those dudes were sick. No disrespect to the current secondary, but wow. The LBs are comparable, and I suppose the Line is too. Edge=94...but current is right on their heels.

I edited my post after you replied-

this is how i think the positions break down-

    94 D v. 08 D

    Position for position-

    Woodson starts over ike
Troy Starts at SS the way they play it now- but i wouldn't want to sit Lake, so I'd move him to FS. (I know this is cheating-but i'm making the rules up as i go... so its ok)
