Costanza - I'm with you on that 10 minute ticker...I thought that was the greatest thing ever!

There is nothing positive to talk about there at all. It's all bad. Granted I have my comments about the Oline too but all in all I am a fan who is excited to see my team play this season. Maybe I'm positive about it since I don't live in Pitt or I remember the days of tracking the damn 10 minute ticker on NBC as a kid just to see the score of my team. I had no news about the team and am now in heaven with the internet and Directv. I still get excited about the team before they play and still get down when they lose just like when I was a kid. I consider being able to watch the team a privilege not a right. I respect the owners and the FO for all that they do. I happen to live in Raider land so I know and understand that things could be really bad. Heck even Raiders fans aren't as bad as the Trib. I went to 2 full out parties after the Raiders drafted McFadden and the dumba$$es even started chanting their Raaaaiiiidddeerrrrrrrrrsssss junk. Maybe some fans are spoiled with the success we've had in the 90s and as of late. Heck didn't we just win a SB? Screw that I LOVE this board for a reason we get down on stuff when we need to, as we have that right, but most of the time it's fun...it's the f'n STEELERS people get excited about it.

Negativity in the fan base and the media absolutely can become a self fulfilling prophecy. Players and coaches cannot avoid the feeding frenzy of media like the old days. We need to be positive and support the team.

There is much to like about this years edition of your Pittsburgh Steelers:

    We have an elite quarterback.

We have elite running backs plural.

We have an elite receiving corps, both wideouts and tightend.

The defensive line starters are good and still in their (late) prime.

The linebackers are a great mix of youth, experience, talent and depth.

The secondary is as good on paper as it has been in years.

The specialists (punter and kicker) are solid.

We were named the second deepest team in the NFL by the Sporting News.

Even our weak spot, the Offensive line is deep with NFL talent and experience. The line can often be greater than the sum of its parts (see Patriots).

I challenge the gloom and doomers to dispute the strength of the roster. I am sure that the legion will focus on the Offensive line and lack of depth on D-line, but this discounts the depth across the board at other positions and the probability that we will have a dynamic offense and defense.

The schedule will also be mentioned, but that is for the birds. A tough schedule is to be embraced. You have to beat the best in the playoffs anyway.

The 2008 can and should aspire to be Superbowl Champs, and I think the pieces are in place to do the deed.
But MiB...the Steelers have a hard schedule...and Ben throws interceptions...and Parker has no vision...and Hines cries too much...and the O-Line simply cannot improve...and it's cold in Brisbane...and Jennifer Hawkins won't return Chadman's phone calls...and the sky is falling...and Casey's a big fatty..and Chavezz has a small penis...oh...wrong forum..
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

    Light up the darkness.

I have a few people in mind to invite here, but I might not have much time over the next couple weeks. As long as it happens before the regular season starts. Pat Williams comes to mind, but, considering his circumstances, I wouldn't expect him anytime soon either way.

Would like to get some of the hockey heads over here, too. But I have a couple months before we get going in earnest on the NHL.

I think most of the folks from there who actually want to be here are by now.
I do know that the overwhelming majority of people I personally have any interest in reading what they have to say, or even disputing (rarely) are over here.
I believe I prefer it when someone isn't trying to simply insult when they have been proved wrong in argument or are acting like a complete crass a-hole just to seek attention. (Ie. pizz ignorant trolls running rampant) A decent board, with just enough irreverence to let Les and NKy post.

    This.

Steely, I know some of us have done some heavy recruiting...but maybe coming from someone else it will be enough to get them over?

My opinion is that place can effing dry up and blow away yesterday and it wouldn't be too soon. The sooner people can kick that addiction the better.
