I've had it with the pittsburghlive board

The negativity is off the charts. There is no football talk, only constant gloom and doom. I thought we lived in America, where optimism is eternal. I am begining to fear for society when the mindset of being right when predicting disaster takes the place of avoiding the disaster, but I think that is where we are.

Negativity in the fan base and the media absolutely can become a self fulfilling prophecy. Players and coaches cannot avoid the feeding frenzy of media like the old days. We need to be positive and support the team.

There is much to like about this years edition of your Pittsburgh Steelers:

    We have an elite quarterback.

We have elite running backs plural.

We have an elite receiving corps, both wideouts and tightend.

The defensive line starters are good and still in their (late) prime.

The linebackers are a great mix of youth, experience, talent and depth.

The secondary is as good on paper as it has been in years.

The specialists (punter and kicker) are solid.

We were named the second deepest team in the NFL by the Sporting News.

Even our weak spot, the Offensive line is deep with NFL talent and experience. The line can often be greater than the sum of its parts (see Patriots).

I challenge the gloom and doomers to dispute the strength of the roster. I am sure that the legion will focus on the Offensive line and lack of depth on D-line, but this discounts the depth across the board at other positions and the probability that we will have a dynamic offense and defense.

The schedule will also be mentioned, but that is for the birds. A tough schedule is to be embraced. You have to beat the best in the playoffs anyway.

The 2008 can and should aspire to be Superbowl Champs, and I think the pieces are in place to do the deed.

My advice to you is to stay away from there as much as possible. Far away. I can't remember the last time I was over there and I don't miss it one bit.

I agree MiB..... And I'm glad you're here... Yes, there is much negativity over there, and that's why so many of us are here.... It doesn't mean that we all are "homers", but at least we don't bitch all the time about absolutely everything....

Personally, I'm glad you're here...... So enjoy, and banter to your hearts' content. ... Pre-season is cool, but there will be confrontations once the season starts, which is very very good. ....

I just came back from there right now. You're right it is pretty bad there right now. Here we are the 1st practice of the season and folks have written the team off already. There is nothing positive to talk about there at all. It's all bad. Granted I have my comments about the Oline too but all in all I am a fan who is excited to see my team play this season. Maybe I'm positive about it since I don't live in Pitt or I remember the days of tracking the damn 10 minute ticker on NBC as a kid just to see the score of my team. I had no news about the team and am now in heaven with the internet and Directv. I still get excited about the team before they play and still get down when they lose just like when I was a kid. I consider being able to watch the team a privilege not a right. I respect the owners and the FO for all that they do. I happen to live in Raider land so I know and understand that things could be really bad. Heck even Raiders fans aren't as bad as the Trib. I went to 2 full out parties after the Raiders drafted McFadden and the dumba$$es even started chanting their Raaaaiiiidddeerrrrrrrrrsssss junk. Maybe some fans are spoiled with the success we've had in the 90s and as of late. Heck didn't we just win a SB? Screw that I LOVE this board for a reason we get down on stuff when we need to, as we have that right, but most of the time it's fun...it's the f'n STEELERS people get excited about it.

ours is not to wonder why just invert and multiply...

Shit.... I still post there from time to time.... But mostly here, and for good reason. I hope you stay here and post often, but in the end, it's all just cheap entertainment.... Enjoy it and contribute (as you obviously can), or bail.... I just like this place because we can disagree without namecalling and bashing.... Afterall, we all won't agree with everything that's done. That is what makes the world (or Planet) go 'round.....

Well, maybe some of that stuff happens, but not to the other extent.....

Hell - I reserve the RIGHT to be negative if circumstances warrant it, but it is the FIRST day of camp! There is universal negativity on that board!

Let's lose a damn game before we go negative on the team.

Perhaps making a list of the folks from the PGHLive board and PMing them with an invite to come to "the light" would be in order.

Now that I have attained "Gold Steel Addict" status "over there" I figure that I have rowed that boat as far as it'll go. Perhaps I'll post from time to time, but only seldomly.

This is the home for the Steelers fan and, perhaps in time, for all Pittsburgh sports.
