    Stats Say Steelers Should Ditch Fullbacks...

    That's the title of the article not my own personal analysis (I apologize if it's a repost):

    http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/06/30/stat ... fullbacks/

    PARKER'S STATS
    Form. ATT YDS AVG
    1 TE 410 1754 4.28
    2 TE 331 1530 4.62
    * Stats from 2005-2007

    BIG BEN'S STATS
    Form. A C Yards YPA
    1 TE 259 426 3108 7.3
    2 TE 115 175 1648 9.4
    * Stats from 2005-2007

    I thought it was very interesting and not something I expected. What do you guys think?

    I agree...I believe that they will try to convert a back up something or another (possibly TE) into the FB if needed....or convert Russell into a FB. If they would have picked up Jones I would have nearly guaranteed it.

    The FB has become alot less important in this O. Also, Mendenhall is very used to running out of one running back sets.

    If Davis is still on this team...I might cry. The guy stinks.

    I think we need Kreider back.

    It would be interesting to see those stats broken down between Krieder and Davis. I agree that Davis is awful, but the FB seemed effective enough with Krieder in there.

    Spaeth seemed to improve his blocking as the year went on last year, and hopefully he continues developing there. The single back set can certainly be effective, but the blocking of the TEs is obviously a big key to that.

    I could live with that.
    From what it looks like, we have to settle for a big blocking tight end.
    I was big on Davis last camp, and preseason games, but when it became real, I thought he sucked. JMO.
    Is there anybody who can bring the heart and the wood to blocking for a running back on this team like him? Have not seen it yet, outside of some very tough wide outs.
    You are so right eni.
