PENGUINS INK MALKIN TO FIVE-YEAR EXTENSION

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Evgeni Malkin to a five year contract extension.

The extension mirrors the one signed by Penguins captain Sidney Crosby in July of 2007, a five-year deal averaging $8.7 million.

Malkin, 21, emerged as an NHL superstar in his second season, finishing second in the league with 106 points before adding 22 points in 20 playoff games and has one season remaining on his current contract, so the extension would take effect in the 2009-2010 season.

That means that the duo of Crosby and Malkin are both going to be under contract with the Penguins through 2013.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Now if the Pens can get Orpik to stay in the fold, they'll be in clover. Wrapping up Malkin was absolutely necessary and along with signing Dupuis, the Pens are committing to a lot of youth with plenty of upside and lots of room to grow.

I know it looks like were losing a good player every other day.
Glad we got this guy inked though.
