I think you people read way too much into these signings.
You act like the Steelers brought in David Johnson as our #1 FB prospect and Spaeth as the next great hope to replace Heath Miller.
I highly doubt either got any significant signing bonus or large contracts.
They are familiar camp bodies who have a chance to add depth in the case that no youngster emerges. Not a big deal.
Thanks Sid, I agree.
This board is getting sickening lately.
Bunch of whining biatches crying over any and everything.
Some people act like we've had 3 losing seasons in a row.
I'll wait till September before I start overeacting.

The end is nigh! The end is nigh!
I agree with this. Just bargin priced depth. No big deal.
yup... i think it's a pretty good signing... it means the discussion of Eifert is out the window (yay!) cuz we have much bigger needs, anyway.

No problem with the first statement. Not sure why you would think any of the rest of that...
Oh well. Mediocre team adding mediocre talent.
lead by a mediocre coach
at least we're well balanced

Ummm... cuz Heath's pretty good and the team has bigger needs... OLB, ILB, WR, NT, RB... I realize it's quite possibly mid-season before Heath comes back... But, the team has much weaker starters at all of those positions. If I could find a guy to bench Worilds, Foote or any of those 1-year-tender guys that may not be on the team next year, I'd do it.
Let's put it this way, if Ben were gonna miss a few games, would you suggest taking a 1st rounder at QB? I wouldn't... I'd quite possibly pick up a mid-rounder with upside (and now, I'd suggest something like an undersized TE with good hands).

As usual, the voice of reason, Sid!
Depending on how Heath's rehab goes, this might be much ado about nothing. It doesn't necessarily mean that adding a TE in the draft would go amiss. But it would have been foolhardy to suggest that we needed more than a late round add at the position anyway. Between, Paulson, Johnson and Spaeth, we should have the position covered until Heath returns.

How many times we gonna regurgitate players?
Unless they are moving him to OT i dont care for this move, lol.

Completely agree.

Matt Spaeth's biggest problem in Pittsburgh was that he was playing #2 TE behind Heath Miller in Arians' offense...
Because Heath was healthy for the most part, Spaeth rarely played the #1 TE...there was a two game period when Heath was injured a few years ago and Spaeth ended up with 12 catches over those two games...
I think the Steelers can make it work with Paulsen, Spaeth and Johnson...until Heath can play again...
