James Harrison looked good!!
That was a nasty sack that Timmons had against the 3rd string QB. I hope to see him do that against people who wont be selling insurance next month.
does harrison ever look bad? that guy is an animal. glad to hear timmons had a sack. im assuming the secondary didnt play all that well.
The secondary didn't do anything that stood out good or bad. I may of missed something though.
Another thing that I'm pleased with is the direction that the relationship between Big Ben and Holmes seems to be headed. Holmes could very well have 15 TD's this year!!!

I remember alot of people on the Trib. wanting to cut him the summer after he was drafted because of the off the field incident with his baby's mama.
I recall one poster saying that he would confront any fan that he see's wearing a Holmes Jersey.

Hope he "confronts with a Timmons jersey."
Re: thoughts on the game...??
It’s just the second pre season game – so if they come out and look great against the Vikings next game all will be forgotten – but they (O, D, and ST’s) did not look good or particularly focused last night.
Outside of the Harrison sack there was no pressure from first team D – understanding they are running mostly vanilla still. The coverage was not good at all. They were gashing the line for run yards and that 3rd and 12 from the 7 was a killer and ended up being a 90 yard drive. Ouch.
Everyone (myself included) thought there was no way the Steelers couldn’t improve at center. Maybe I’m missing it (please chime in) but has Hartwig done anything to truly distinguish himself as the ‘man’? Ben looks good and continues to be the hardest QB to tackle in the league. On one of his scrambles (I think it was second series) where he threw it away – how in the world did a WR not come open with that kind of time? I think we see a TON of Ben to Holmes this year.
Easy missed 43 yard FG (inside a dome) and TD return were bad for ST’s.
Hopefully it was just a bad game that happens in the preseason and they’ll get after this week in practice and next week!
Re: thoughts on the game...??
Our pass D was soft and no pressure. These I am not worried about yet due to 2 starters (Troy, Deshea) out and vanilla schemes.
Our run D was soft and I AM worried about this. Hopefully it was just Casey's first game or something.
Dixon looked good. THat run was amazing. It looks like he drops back with really short, fast steps. But he has an arm baby.
All in all, it was not a good game, but it was only one game.
And, despite everything we could have still won if we had made a FG and hadn't given up a ST score <sigh>
Re: thoughts on the game...??
After watching the game again last night.
1.The OL didn't play as bad as I first thought. The tackles played the worst imo. I rewound several times and never saw the hold by Hartwig. I had no problem with the hold on Colon on the int. as when he got beat he tackled the guy and kept him off Ben.
2.Casey didn't play that well against the run, but he did push the pocket back on passing downs. Some of the runs though went at Smith and surprisingly to me he didn't play that well.
3.As a Foote defender and a strong Tomlin supporter, I'm going to be really upset with Tomlin if Timmons doesn't start. Even when he makes a mistake and is out of position his speed makes up for it.
4.On the KR for a TD, there was a blatant block in the back right in front of the ball carrier, I don't know an official could have missed it. Not excusing the rest of the players on the field, but without the block in the back the TD would not have happened.
5.I looked at the hold several times on the missed FG as it was Berger doing the holding. It looked like a good hold to me.
6. I was more impressed with Berger on punts as his hang time seems better than Ernster. Wasn't happy with the one he punted into the end zone, but he wasn't happy about it either.
7. Dixon seems to me that he is progressing. Leftwich, I'll cut some slack as he'd only been there 3 days, but the receivers sure do drop a lot of his passes.
8. The thing that concerns me the most was the poor tackling. I think some of the guys that will be cut need to become tackling dummies before camp breaks. lol
9. All in all it's really hard to judge anything by a pre-season game.
