I guess I didn't have the expectation that these guys would be day 1 starters anyway. The idea that DD or Adams would start or have superior seasons was merely gravy to me. The term "investment in the future" is a good one.
Many expected them to start.
DD was the most pro ready lineman to come into the league in forever. His injury is unfortunate.
We didn't have another option at LT a while back and that's what forced expectations onto Adams. Now if he looked like he had any chance at being ready to start, someone would have drafted him early in round 1. He's a LT. Off field problems be darned, he woulda been picked early if someone thought he was legit ready.

The Steelers get a bad, bad injury. One of the best guards to come out of college football in years, David DeCastro was playing like a five-year vet for Pittsburgh in the preseason. Now he's out, likely for the year, with a torn MCL and dislocated kneecap suffered Saturday night in Buffalo. The Steelers drafted DeCastro first and tackle Mike Adams (who has been poor in preseason tests) second in April, and now they may get zilch out of both this season. Left to right, the Steeler front looks like Max Starks, Willie Colon, Maurkice Pouncey, Ramon Foster and Marcus Gilbert ... not exactly the retooled lined they had in mind in the spring.
They weren't for nothing...they were an investment in the future of the team...
If you are expecting both your 1st and 2nd round picks to make a huge impact in their rookie season, your team sucked the previous year...
Exactly. Way too "sky is falling." How often do our first 2 picks make big contributions year one? Almost NEVER. And Foster is playing well, and, to be honest, might be the better player this year, before DeCastro got hurt. Adams will come back strong in 2013. He just needs some experience. He isn't losing physically, he is just not seasoned and needs to learn tricks of the trade on this level, as you need more than just physicality at this level. You can't win on brute force alone; won't happen at this level.

What are they talking about? I hate stupid people. That OL they listed is quite fine, as long as they don't lose more people to injury.
Edit: I was referring to the writer being stupid, not you, Hawaii. :D
Man, do you people smoke crack?
I know some are angry but this is plain stupid talk.
I've tried to hold my tongue but someone needs to set these moronic threadstarters straight.
I guess I'm just venting:confused:
If I weren't a gentleman, I might say something that I'd regret thinking....

Peter King states DeCastro was playing like a 5 year vet and I'm the moron. Come on peeps, can't a man vent? Yes, only 2 pre-season games to evaluate from and that's all I did. I evaluated a rookie that played 2 pre-season games and looked just above average at best. I wish him a speed recovery and a very long, successful career as a Steeler.

Two preseason games does not fortell the future of a player.
