I think we felt highly of him....
and in what world does Detroit make good decisions?
We felt highly of Guy Whimper to sign him.... We felt highly of Willie Colon to sign him to a substantial contract..... I forgot, we always make good signings. lol
Foote's career is over and thank god.... we need to get younger and Foote should be one of the easiest of the old guys on this defense to replace.
if Sean Spence returns to form, we will let Larry Foote go. if Spence can't return from his injury, we will most likely bring Foote back.

I doubt it but we shall see.

if they led their team in positive stats last year and we signed them and they played substantial minutes the next few years I would see your point.
but since that won't be the case... lol.
And they felt so highly of him to let him walk. Impressive.
Larry Foote's strategy to gain those stats must have been to hope the RB trips as they run him over after a 4+ yard gain. That strategy worked pretty well for the Steelers but that doesn't indicate good LB play.
I'm with you steelz09. Larry Foote is a travis-sham-ockery!! People see a certain number of tackles and automatically assume someone is doing their job but when most of those tackles are 7-10 yards from the LOS or down the sideline and it is coming from a position who is suppose to be stout at the POA and able to play coming forward, well then you see a much larger picture.

Even if the guy leads his team multiple times in tackles you guys spin it as a negative and find a reason why the stats don't tell the whole story. Of course they don't - but Foote's been a major contributor to this team. You guys are a joke.
Of course, Foote is no Farrior, but you guys did the same thing to Farrior at the end of his career. You have Foote and Farrior - two middle guys on a number of the #1 rushing D's of all time they are sham-ockery?

A major contributor??? Ok there it is there. This is where the disconnect lies. Some see him for what he really is, and others have him as a perennial pro bowler headed for the hall of fame.

Since when is a "major contributor" a perennial pro-bowler?? That seems like different things to me.

Take it for what its worth. Farrior was a great player but he was showing his age. It happens. Foote in his prime was just an average guy that needed to play alongside someone above average whether that be a Farrior or Timmons. Nothing more.. nothing less. We are not seeing much of a drop off, if any, with Williams starting and that tells you all you need to know about Foote at this point in his career.

Foote needs a fake girlfriend... then he would be taken seriously.
