Pats Targeting Wallace
Could it be? Brady just restructured his contact and freed up an additional 7 mil.

I know it's unlikely because of their other signings but you never know... It is the Pats*

This was my thought exactly. Why else do it? They are not strapped for cap space. Who else is out there they might want to sign?

Wallace isn't going anywhere.
-
I don't think so, the Cheators like to stockpile picks (they actually suck at drafting so this is a better option for them)

I agree and Peyton Manning will always be a Colt! Ahhh..wait a second.........

They franchised Welker, signed Brandon Lloyd, and today, brought back Deion Branch as well (not to mention those 2 TE's that never leave the field and catch a ton of passes).
I think if they were going to go after an RFA, they might consider Lardarius Webb from the Ravens, since New England's secondary sucks.
Or maybe, since the Law Firm signed with Cincy, perhaps they want to trade for a RB...after Carolina signed Mike Tolbert, they are unlikely to keep both DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart...one of them should be traded before the draft (and NE certainly has plenty of picks as ammo).
Or maybe, after losing pass-rushing specialist Mark Anderson to free agency, perhaps they want to make a big splash for a pass-rusher...Dwight Freeney makes a ton of money in Indy (which is going through a youth movement), and he may not fit well in Pagano's conversion from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Freeney may be on the block and a potential target.
Just because New England is freeing up cap room doesn't automatically mean that they will be making a run at Wallace (since they have plenty of passing targets for Brady already but are weak in numerous other spots that I just mentioned).

I agree with Ruthless. New England is not going after Wallace. I think Denver and Cincinnati are the only real possibilities at this point. Both are unlikely, but I believe both will weigh the option in the next week or two. Cincinnati could be waiting until Wallace has no other suitors. That is usually their M.O. They like to wait out the market and then see if they can get a relative bargain. After no one jumps at Wallace's demand for Fitz-like money, maybe Cincy will call his agent to see if the price has come down to DeSean Jackson type money. If so, they MAY consider it. It would certainly weaken a division foe. And they have PLENTY of cap space.

I think I will laugh if NOBODY goes after Wallace. Not because I really thought anyone would, but just because of all the talk of it.

Well, this scenario would be great then. Cincy offers a contract similar to Jackson's and all we have to do is match it! They did all the dirty work. Thanks again, Cincy.. You guys are so nice..Lose in the playoffs to us, etc...Such a doormat..:D
