Whatever LeBeau's faults may or may not be - his complicated defenses ALWAYS confuse the heck out of the young 'uns, no matter how good they look going in.
Just give Ike help over the top like Sunday night, and the margin of victory may well be our point total!!
I think it's gonna be a tough matchup. RG3 is a freak. He runs like a deer and he's accurate while running at full speed.
I think this is the guy the NFL has been looking for since the first QB athlete.
One things for sure, we're in for a treat. The 2 most unique QBs in the league will be on the field together.
Why I feel good about the Redskins game? Heinz Field. We are a different team at home than on the road. We are undefeated at home and have only one win on the road.
While we are here, guess who else is undefeated at home and has only one win on the road? The Ravens. They've just had the benefit of 4 home games and 3 away games at this point, while we've had only 2 home games and 4 away games. From this point on, we have 6 out of our 10 remaining games at home, while the Ravens have 5 out of their 9 remaining games on the road.

To a man, the Ravens insist that they don't have an explanation for why the team's offense has played so well at home and so poorly on the road. And as second-year wide receiver Torrey Smith wisely pointed out, if the Ravens knew the cause of the maddening inconsistency, they'd have it fixed by now.
Either way, it's become impossible to ignore and if the Ravens are going to make a run at that elusive Super Bowl, they better figure it out soon. Their post-bye week schedule includes five road contests, three against their divisional foes and their other two versus the San Diego Chargers and Washington Redskins.
In fairness to the Ravens, they have played in three pretty difficult venues: Philadelphia, Kansas City and Houston. The Chiefs are obviously not a good football team, but Arrowhead Stadium is still a tough place to play.
While the Ravens' banged-up defense has struggled pretty much everywhere this season, their offensive home/road splits remain impossible to explain. Just consider the following:

I'm going to be in the house for the first time this season, and I'm relatively confident about beating the Redskins since Big Ben is 14-1 in games at Heinz Field against NFC teams. Of course I happened to be at the one loss, which was to the NY Giants in 2008. On Offense the Steelers should be throwing from the first play since the Redskins rank dead last in the NFL in pass defense. On Defense the Steelers need to contain RGIII and will probably have to use a spy. I'm kinda bummed that the Steelers are going to wear those butt ugly new retro uni's. What's wrong with Black and Gold anyway?

One thing is sure, pass defenders will have to try and stick with receivers longer in coverage vs the Skins. RG3 is a big play waiting to happen on the ground or through the air.

Can't take credit for this one...it's not mine...I just found it on Google Image Search (and, by the way, I would assume by that "33" on his chest, that it's Isaac Redman and not Hines). If it were mine, I would have gone the lazy route and just used Troy to avoid having to photoshop on 80's hair band hair.

About that Redskins’ “full house” formation: The Redskins have implemented some different offensive looks to take full advantage of Robert Griffin III’s skill package, and one that they used frequently Sunday employed three guys in the backfield wrapped around RGIII (seen here) — sort of like you’d see in Air Force’s flexbone, for example.

There’s not much film out there to help NFL defenses prepare for that, and Washington even takes it one step further at times lining up a tight end almost directly in front of Griffin, with a running back to his side and another behind him (seen here).

Washington ran a play out of that set eight times in the first three quarters, with only an unforced Alfred Morris fumble resulting in a negative outcome. Every other occurrence saw the Redskins gain four yards or more, with gains of 13, 22 and 23. They also had a 35-yard Griffin-to-Leonard Hankerson TD pass wiped out by a penalty.
The Giants stiffened against the formation in the fourth, stuffing two runs and sacking Griffin off a play-action fake. Still, expect Washington to keep turning to the unique look in the future.

This is assignment football at it's finest. Having 4 athletic linebackers on the field will allow us to match-up well and react to the dive, give, or pitch. We just need to keep this kid guessing at what he sees...give him different looks in similar down and distance scenarios or formations...and bring the friggin' heat!
I get to watch him play every week and I think the 'Skins got a good one in RGIII as long as Snyder doesn't fire a coach a year now for the next ten years. Rookies have always played well against us, I don't know why. I think we have to score no less than 30 in order to win by more than one score.

Yeah, and I bet the Raiders and Titans were highly ranked in all categories. Not. Steelers love to play down to the competition.
This will be RGIII's first game against a 3-4 defense. I think the Steelers defensive hopes rely on trying to confuse the guy, but that only means if he is confused he will probably take off running. I would not be shocked if he ends with close to 100 yds in scrambles. The Steelers just do not have anyone on D to handle his speed (maybe that new CB they signed a while back).
If we can actually play our time-control offense we can do this. Keep him off the field, move the ball, score, and we win.

Different teams with different match ups. There will be other factors that go into the equation. This is why I don't believe what one team does vs another team matters much when teams face off. The Steelers will attempt to exploit weaknesses but the Skins defense may be a good or bad match up for the Steelers offense. We won't know until the game is played.

What happened last week was not a matchup issue. They allowed the Giants deep threat run past coverage into the secondary. It was embarrassing. It is a sign of bad coaching or dumb players or both. Hopefully this is not something that they corrected in one week.

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) Passing yards are easy to come by when playing the Washington Redskins, to the point where other teams have figured out they don't need to run the ball nearly as much.
On first-and-10, the opposition is throwing 58.8 percent of the time, gaining a heel-rocking 8.4 yards per pass. It's pretty easy to keep a drive going when faced with a second-and-1 or second-and-2.
That's a lot through the air even in the pass-happy modern-era NFL. Overall, teams this year have passed 48.6 percent of the time on first-and-10. They're passing the most against Chicago (60), Miami (59.1), San Diego (58) and Washington.
Those numbers were relevant Thursday when defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said he wanted to talk about the ``positive side'' of a defense that ranks last in the NFL in pass defense. He pointed out, for example, that his players have done a decent job of stopping the run.
It doesn't take ``rocket science'' - to use a popular term of the week - to figure out why. Running against the Redskins might as well be a chance to take a breather in between any of the 29 passing plays of 20-plus yards allowed by the defense the season. Every quarterback Washington has faced this season has thrown for 300 yards except for Tampa Bay's Josh Freeman, who settled for 299.
``We're doing a great job on the run game. We're getting turnovers. We're scoring points on defense,'' Haslett said. ``We've got the fix the back end part of it. It's not just the back end - it's everybody, the coaches, we've got to get on the same page, make sure we're doing the right thing.''
Nothing has looked much uglier than the 77-yard pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz that decided the game in the final moments of the 27-23 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. The defense had the right call: Cruz was supposed to be double-covered as he raced down the field, but he ran past cornerback Josh Wilson and safety Madieu Williams as if they were part of his trailing entourage, not two people employed to stop him.
Cornerback DeAngelo Hall caught some flak from the Giants for saying Manning didn't have to employ ``rocket science'' to complete the pass because the Redskins played it ``as bad as possible.'' Given how open Cruz was, there seems to be quite a bit of truth to Hall's words.
Four weeks ago, coach Mike Shanahan openly challenged the secondary following a 38-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. There's been scant, if any, improvement since. Coaches and players say it's not a matter of changing scheme or personnel; the players simply need to play better. To that end, Haslett used the word ``execute'' or ``execution'' eight times during his 12-minute session with reporters.
To be fair, the defense has played short-handed all season. The starting safeties were supposed to be Tanard Jackson and Brandon Meriweather, but Jackson is suspended for the season after failing a drug test and Meriweather has yet to play because of a knee injury.
``I haven't really played with them to know what I'm missing,'' Hall said, ``but it definitely would have been a different ballgame so far this season with those two guys out there.''
In addition, linebacker Brian Orakpo and defensive end Adam Carriker were lost for the season in Week 2 with injuries - taking a bite out of the pass rush - and captain London Fletcher's status for this week's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is very much in question because of head and hamstring injuries.
With just an average performance by the secondary, the Redskins (3-4) could be leading the NFC East with an explosive offense led by rookie Robert Griffin III. Recent history says they don't have to improve but so much: Last year's Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots allowed the first- and second-most yards passing in NFL history, yet both coasted into the playoffs.
``We'll get all this fixed the best we can,'' Haslett said. ``Because as good as our offense is playing right now, it's exciting to watch. We've just got to do our part and not give up big chunks of yardage.''

Unfortunately, I think our only assignment safe defense is base formation which won't fool anyone.
