I was disappointed in losing Rainey. I really thought he was going to be that explosive playmaker who would double as our return man and 3rd-down threat. Rare speed and change of direction. However, Archer takes that same skill set and actually cranks it up a notch or two.
Although I coached against both Rainey and Archer in high school, I was on the offensive side of the ball when we played Venice, so I honestly don't remember a whole lot about the latter (by the way, since he was also mentioned in this thread, we had Ace Sanders on our team...kind of cool). But because he's a local kid, I have followed Archer a little. There was even a huge Heisman campaign put together by Kent State for him.
Those of you who are belly-aching over taking him in the 3rd round will likely be singing a different tune when he zips, zips, zips to the hizzy on a couple of those returns this year. His special teams contributions will make this pick a great value, in my opinion.:tt2
That is cool shlt FS

They took him too early. Even if he can stay healthy - which I highly doubt - they could have got him 2 rounds later and used this pick on a CB or WR. This was just poor judgement. They had a brain fart.
So far we got a 210 lb ILB, a lazy DE and a midget RB who could have been taken in the 7th and who will most likely be hurt all the time. Color me not confident.
How do you put people on ignore on this forum?
This kid is so fast he can flick the switch & be under the covers & asleep in bed before the light goes out.
But when he does so, he hurts himself.

If you put him on ignore, then he will put you on ignore. An eye for an eye. Mutually assured destruction. Tit for tat. Quid pro quo. Where will it end? You can't un-ignore the bell. Think outside the box on this one. Let's not over-think this.

He wouldn't have lasted to Round 5. Let's not exaggerate to make your point.
You're acting like this kid wasn't a very productive player. He was not just some track guy playing football. He is a football player, with the running instincts and hands to show. (has good hands)
4.2 guys with good hands do not last til Round 5.

I thought Shazier was 215 lbs. Now he's already down to 210?
Who is the lazy DE? I thought the lazy lineman from ND was named Nix.
Is the guy who is now predicting that Archer will be injury prone the same guy who was saying that Mosley would have been a better pick for ILB than Shazier?

They do when they are tiny. How many non-kickers who weigh 170 lbs make it in this league? 1%? This kid will never stand up to NFL hits. He won't be in the NFL by 2015.
