This will not happen.
As a new guy here, I've been trying to get up to speed on everyone's personalities ... Flippy, your avatar suits you.
The Lions are up next and may be the toughest game we have the rest of the way, next to rematches with the Bengals and Ravens. Other than that we have the Browns twice, the Dolphins, and the Packers. Unfortunately, Aaron Rodgers will be back by the time we play the Packers.
For now, I'm only concerned about the Lions. They are no cupcake team.
Flippy, what ever you got going on in your head...I wish I could bottle up and give to the populous.

I'd gladly share it if I could. And believe me, I try ;)

Hope you're enjoying your time around here. It's usually a lot better when we're winning or at least competitive ;) This team and the board has been in a little bit of a funk this season. Nothing a few wins can't cure.
If the Steelers play defense like they did today, they can compete with any team...
If the offense steps it up, they can be more than competitive...
To give up the opponent's first TD of the day with :03 on the clock, on a play that should have been blown dead because of a false start, is outstanding...
This will not happen.
I didn't think JJ was gonna get a sack this season. Miracles do happen every day ;)

You must of been off of your meds:p
OK then, thanks for contributing....
Any chance that the Steelers may still have will have more to do with the incompetency of others than with the skill of this team.
Wouldn't we have a better shot at a Wild Card as the Jets at 5-4 hold the last spot and we beat them. So technically we are like 2 games back. Thoughts?

I think we should worry about wining next week, and not looking too far ahead.

As fans, how can that hurt the team by looking ahead?
I think we should worry about wining next week, and not looking too far ahead.
Exactly. We just beat a bad team with a rusty QB who played HORRIBLE. And we really didn't beat them soundly and allowed them to stick around a lot longer than was necessary.
We saw what happened against Brady. Did we improve? Or did the level of competition just go down significantly? We'll see against a 6-3 Lions team.

It doesn't... lol

I'm with you. Screw the 1 game at a time mumbo jumbo. That train of thinking will only allow you to think about SuperBowls during the 2 weeks leading up to the game. By thinking ahead, you can imagine what it feels like when the Steelers are winning this year's SuperBowl up until they are mathematically eliminate.
I've been thinking about this year's SuperBowl from the moment the confetti started dropping on the Ravens to complete last season. Let's roll Steelers!!!!!! We can do this!!!!!
And pigs will fly,and ell will have frozen over.
9-7 would almost guarantee us a playoff spot if the loss comes against an NFC team (Packers).
Heck, even 8-8 could bring you in the playoffs this year.
I am simply not yet convinced that we can go 6-1 or 5-2 from no one. That will be one hellof a r tough ride.
Beating the Lions could defenetly give us some momentum, though.

The Lions are the only team I'm concerned with right now. It will take a lot for this team to beat them.
Lions are riding high right now. Their Def Line will eat our Off Line for Sunday brunch.

Obviously, we can't hurt the team. But playing those what-if games, looking that far ahead adds to the pain we suffer in a loss!
The Steelers have a lot of tough games left. Really, as poorly as they have played, there aren't any games that you can mark as a W. The Steelers lost to a Titans team that just lost to Jacksonville, to the Raiders, to the Vikings, etc. They've lost to a lot of really bad teams. I think a 7-9 finish (just out of premium draft pick range) is about the best that can be expected from this team.
I want to be the "glass half full" guy, but what in yesterday's game gave any indication this team can rip off 7 games in a row? They beat up on a weak team with a rusty QB. The Lions have a formidable D line and Stafford to Megatron will be hard to stop. There are still 4 games left against hated division rivals - those games are a crap shoot when the Steelers are dominating (and you could argue the Bengals and Browns are better this year). Rodgers may be back with the pack by Dec 22nd which is not good for this D.
A for enthusiasm! F for reality!
This team has to take it week to week. The division is probably out of reach but the team is still only a game and a half back for the last wild card due to a weak AFC. The Lions game is huge for momentum because this teams season will be made or broken in that 4 day stretch against the Browns and Ravens. The team could be 6-6 at that point with 11 days off to work for a Miami team looking like they want to fall apart or they could be 4-8 and playing for draft position. The team can win any of their remaining games and can probably afford one more loss, preferably in Green Bay. 5-1 in the division would take them a long way. If and it's a big if this team could pull this off, no team will want to see them in the P word.
(Best Jim Mora voice) Playoffs? You're talking about playoffs?
Lets see how Richard decides to defend Megatron this week.

30 yard cushion?
Jam him at the line of scrimmage. Jam him hard. Keep jamming him downfield, if necessary. Step on his foot when he tries to jump up for a ball. Tackle him before the catch.
OK, I got carried away, but I sure don't want to see us giving him the big cushion all day long...

A lot of fans are looking ahead...at the draft that is....:D

At least when Detroit is in the redzone ;)
