Shamarko Thomas...they had a 3rd Rd grade on him.
Steelers would have been forced to draft a WR early in the draft though.
Bailey from WVU went just one pick later, and he certainly could have been a possibility. Quinton Patton also could have been chosen with the comp selection.
I read somewhere that the Steelers thought there was a big dropoff from Hopkins to the rest of the WRs, so perhaps they would have taken him (or Patterson) instead of Jones in the first, and addressed linebacker later.

I think it would have been Sharmarko Thomas.

This. I think in the second. I donĀ“t see FO pass on Jarvis Jones.
It woulda been someone everyone woulda complained about. It's kinda funny how as many as wanted the extra 3rd round pick woulda probably complained about the player we got as a result.
so in an indirect way, by matching the Patriots* offer to Sanders it cost us next year's #3 draft choice.

yup, and sanders will leave next year for the $ and we will need to replace him
We need him this year. It would have been big hole had he gone. Seriously, too much turmoil.

No, not really...
Getting Shamarko Thomas cost us next year's #3 draft choice...
Matching the Patriots offer to Sanders got us Sanders...
