My reaction upon realizing this was
"UGH, just when I thought the offseason was on a down swing I have another 100 days to sit through!"
On the flip side, training camp is just under 60 days away. -That sounds much better.

We need a 'days to kick off' on the board somewhere. 100 days isn't that bad...it can always be worse.
Luckily, the Lakers are in the Finals. At least I have until they win it all. Then...I will be counting the days.
Steeler DVDs and DVR recordings of games keep me going thru this "dead time" of year.... But I seriously can't wait!......
....Great idea about the "countdown clock".... I'd love to see it implemented!

I think if we daily bump this thread and count off the days, that would suffice. 100 days sounds like an eternity. :x
I know I will sound like a dork for sharing this. But when the Steelers lost to the Jags in the playoffs, the following Monday at work I figured that there were 30 weeks till the first pre-season game. I made a countdown chart comprised of 30 weeks. I had lighted each of the 30 weeks and made notations on the weeks that I had event that I looked foward (ie: vacation from work, nfl draft, weddings, social organzational events). As the weeks pass I cross off a week & I do this on Friday's. As of today, there are 10 weeks till the first preseason game & 8 weeks till the start of camp.
This has helped the off season progress quickly. As long as I can keep my calander filled w/things I enjoy the season will be here before I know it!!

Glad to see I'm not the only one!! HA.......
Seriously, Steeler football is something that I pour my soul into (like most people here). It freaks me out to think about what a devestating injury to a starter would do *KNOCK ON WOOD* -Look at what happened after A. Smith and FWP went down. What would the season would of been like had that happened in week 2 & 4?
I was talking to my father in-law last year about the Michael Vick situation. Basically, all Falcon fans kissed their year good-bye when he went to prison. My heart went out to all the season ticket holders. When they paid all that $$ for season tickets, they still had Vick and HOPE about fielding a playoff caliber team. That all went down the tubes when Vick went off to the slammer. And there was not a damn thing those fans could do about getting their $$ back.
Hey John can you get a count down clock with maybe the Jeopardy theme incorporated somehow?

Actually, sound is such a great option on this board. The ability we have to imbed video into our threads is a great feature and something I hope we freqently use when the season kicks into gear.
The start of the season seemed like an eternity away to me, so 100 days actually sounded pretty good. Heck it might even by 99 days by now!
I've gotten too emotionally involved in the Steelers the last two years, it hurt way too much when they finally lost their last games of the year. I'm going to be more laid back this year, just take it for what it is - a game, a simple diversion, and nothing to get too worked up about.
HA HA!

Good luck with that..... .... That's nothing more than a "pipe dream" for most of us.... :P

I tell myself that same thing every year, but find myself all knotted up in front of the TV with face all contorted and my wife telling me I look miserable.... This is obviously when the good guys in Black/Gold are not winning. When they're winning, I'm so loud that my wife kicked me out of the house last year during the MN game against the Ravens, when we thumped them. I think emotional involvement is just part of the heritage attached to the Nation's active participants. :D

100 days? wow i didnt realize it was still that far away. haha the lakers winning? they will be lucky if the series goes 7 games. the celts are way too physical for the lakers

no that still doesnt help at all. after the nba finals are over it will be the worst time of year for sports. stuck with just baseball, there is nothing worse.

Yes, I have barely enough self-awareness to know that it doesn't matter what my stated intentions are ... I will be a drooling automaton slave to the Steelers schedule this fall. The worst part is when church runs over, and I miss half the first quarter.
I used to live in Minnesota, near the Wisconsin border. Half the folks were Packer fans, and half were Vikings fans. The minister used to wear a green sash over one shoulder and a purple sash (or whatever you call those things) over the other, so as not to offend anyone in the congregation. And to REALLY not offend, he NEVER went past noon!
Our minister down here is a nice guy, but seriously lacking in NFL awareness. I guess I'm being tempted (tortured) in some minor biblical way ...
The worst part is when church runs over, and I miss half the first quarter. ...
SA, I solved that problem by attending the early service at 8:30am... But it can make for an early morning if I was up late watching college ball on The Gameplan....
...I'm not sure how this is going to be ultimately viewed by the "big guy" upstairs, though... Arranging church attendance around the Steelers...... :P

WOW!!!Remind me to schedule an intervention for you frank. There is NO WAY that the Celtics are even close to as physical as the Spurs were..............................and look where that got them.
Lakers in 6.

Yeah, everything you said, plus sending your kids cowering to the nearest corner in fear when you yell "CMON REF!" as well. Nothing was worse than the Colts playoff game on the road to the Super Bowl. That Polamalu play had me going crazy. My daughter hid behind my wife and nearly cried. I stopped yelling after that though.

..the play that got me was the Bettis fumble...I had my wife and my 2 year old son standing next to me with our flags churning through the air getting ready to celebrate another touchdown and then "IT" happened. My knees actually buckled and i had to sit down...my wife immediately put her hand on the back of my son and ushered him into the next room where they avoided the Richard Pryor-esque tirade i went on.
..in the end all was well, we celebrated by yelling "HE MISSED IT! HE MISSED IT!" and doing a jig. My son must have thought we were crazy....

You must admit, though, in the euphoria of that Colts win, you might have succumbed to Scott's friendly advances (I hope his wife and kid were out of the room again, though).

..unfortunately for me and my wife it was not THAT jig.. :P ...but more of a Iron City Light inspired James Brown/Riverdance move that should never be duplicated again. Ever.
