Nice. So we have Batch and Miller. Glad we let Jerrod go. I got flamed for suggesting that he be kept and Lefty let go after Latrobe. I thought Lefty was a china doll.
I hope I learn something about this game someday!

Just longing for the days when Tomlin calls me and asks for advice.
At this point, they better get a QB that can at least hand the ball off because now that we are down to just Batch and no one knows when Ben will be back or Byron....... Save up for a higher draft pick. See, there's always a silver lining.
I think several people mentioned that Lefty wouldn't make it thru one game. I guess that wasn't really going out on a limb. We're screwed. Offer the Jets a 7th round pick for Tebow. :p
Here comes David Garrard....

At least Garrard can take a hit. I wouldn't feel too bad about him stepping in right now given our choices.
Where's the guy we cut during training camp? I think he was from Texas A&M. He didn't look bad with the reps he received in pre-season. Another team, I'm guessing picked him up.
I think I'd go with Garrard out of that list as well.
Pappy
Someone posted on FB that Josh Johnson was signed by the 9ers.

^^^Whoops. I'm an idiot. Thanks for clearing that up!

Anyone know if Garrard is healthy? I think the Dolphins cut him because he was hurt. I think he had back problems. And then I remember watching the Dolphins on HBO and he hurt his knee playing with his kid off the field.
And he has had Crohns disease. And he takes a pounding like Ben and lefty. He's older than Byron too.
But he's about the perfect backup for Ben. He's about the same size. He's a beast to take down.
On a positive, the year he officially replaced Lefty, he had 18 TDs and 3 INTs and lead Jax to an 11-5 record and lost to NE in the playoffs despite playing well.
I'd say he's a good option if healthy. But I fear he might be just another Charlie/Byron. Which means Tomlin loves him already.
How about JP Losman so that we can have two first rounders from the '04 draft. :D
According to Chris Mortensen, Leftwich fractured 2 ribs vs. the Ravens and is likely to start vs. the Browns.

So Lefty's tougher than Ben. Ben's been out with broken toes while Lefty stays in a game with a broken leg.
Ben sprains a shoulder and hurts 1 rib and he's out indefinitely. Lefty breaks 2 ribs and he's gonna play next week.
This is like a Daniel Laruso's gonna fight moment!!!!!!! Look out Cobra Kai!!!!!!
I believe that should have read that he is UNLIKELY to play, right? That is what I saw.
Give our medical staff a roll of duct tape and some tie wire and they can fix Lefty and Batch everytime.
Woodley just asked on his FB page if it would be ok with us (the fans) if we signed McNabb. I hope he's joking.
Palko- he's in Pittsburgh and he knows Haleys offense.
I believe that should have read that he is UNLIKELY to play, right? That is what I saw.
I see that Schefter said unlikely, but I copied that from Mortensen from FB.
The fact we are having this thread indicates the sad truth that we are screwed!
Yep and I can't believe some people mentioned Tyler Palko. Did no one watch the chiefs game we played against them last year?

I wish Palko was in the league still. b/c when he's on an active roster I can boast that I can throw a football further than at least 1 nfl QB
The local media continues to ask the same question. Why wasn't Leftwich taken out? I didn't think about it until just now BUT if Tomlin knew that Bryon was banged up maybe Tomlin simply didn't want to run the risk of getting Batch injured in this game as well considering the Baltimore offense was doing next to nothing. Say Charlie goes down and then we're left with Heath. We're then scrambling to sign ANYONE to play against Cleveland which is bad news bears all around.

I saw that as well. Ugh!!
Here comes David Garrard....
I could live with that, considering all else. He will never be a very good passer and never get into much of a rhythm, but he could maybe win a game or two until Ben comes back.
lefty gone, oh whatever shall we do?

that's funny...:D
Just reported: Lefty has fractured ribs and is out for weeks. So, as I predicted, Lefty would be injured in 1 game, and now Batch will likely only last 1-2 himself. They better go sign someone quick.

With this injury to Lefty with Batch/Lefty being a bit old and or fragile, do you guys think this is the last season we see them in Steeler uniforms ? I think they'll have at least one of them on the team through training camp next season with a couple of younger qb's also. With this, they'll let both Batch and Lefty go once the season starts and we will have a youth movement at backup.
I'm not going to say that I'm relieved but I guess I am, I just can't take watching Lefty go back out there next week. He is almost painful to watch. I will be much more comfortable with Batch. Win, Lose, or Draw!

Either way this is on Tomlin. Anyone could plainly see he was hurt. He needed to come out of the game.
Yeah.. especially later in the game... how COULDN'T you tell he was hurt?
I would have taken him out regardless, injury or no injury because of his 1st half performance.

I'd possibly keep Batch as a QB coach or mentor. Maybe not so much for Ben (or maybe a lil' for Ben) but a younger player as well.
I agree that Tomlin should have taken Lefty out. At the end of the game he was struggling to even get the ball to the feet of the receivers.
I say we bring Hines back. He can throw a good pass and can definitely take a hit. :)
