No worries. Ben said that no one fears Lamar sitting back in the pocket and picking your defense apart with his arm.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

I still think his target was Deshaun Watson.

Hahaahhahaahaha. It's outstanding. Take up all that cap space and inhibit the team from doing significant things in other areas. The torture continues. Now lets see how many good players they can now hold on to around him.

I'm guessing that extension means: this year is the same year 5 salary as if they had kept him... but, year 6 (next offseason) is where they begin to have problems.

More than I thought they'd give him. Hope they regret every dime!

Extension usually means 5 years after the current year.

But they are also usually signed when someone has a year left on their contract.

In Lamar's case, I think he would have had to play on the tag this year if he played without an extension.

So, I would think that this would be the next 5 NFL seasons (not 6).

It is a five-year deal for Jackson, who will be under contract with the team through the 2027 season now.

Will be interesting to see how the payment schedule looks.

Joel Corry has been saying for over a year that Lamar wouldn't be able to get fully guaranteed, but that he should use the concession of full guarantees to get a favorable payout schedule where more of the total money in the contract comes to him in the first half than the second half. Apparently the Rats gave their TE a very favorable payout schedule while putting him near the top of the market. Corry said that Lamar should argue that if they were willing to do that for the TE, they should do it for the QB too.

Will be interesting to see the particulars.

When TJ signed his 4 year extension, he still had a year left on his contract (the 5th year option year).

My understanding is that the 4 year extension is 4 years after the option year since the deal for that year was already signed.

This is also why we should look at "new money average" and not "AAV" on contracts with guys who still have years left on their current deals. If you look at AAV for those guys, it looks like the team is getting a deal. But it's just that the team is only giving market value for the "new years", not for the one the player already owes them.

At least that's my understanding of how these things work.

                        It’s a 5 year deal.

Looks like something that woujd have been done months ago had lamaar not insisted on a fully guaranteed contract.

the moving the chains guys said the draft had a lot to do with the deal finally getting done.

After all the negotiations the Baltimore franchise needs a plan for their Qb position. If he didn’t want this contract then it’s time to move on and draft a qb in the first round.

Probably used the Hurts contract to his advantage.
