What will the Steelers record be at the bye week?

Not only do the Steelers (finally) have a Week One home opener but they're at home for the first two games of a season since 1997.

I wish a 5-0 ;), but I think we will be 4-1 or 3-2 at worst. I hope we'll win against the Browns, Raiders and Texans plus one against the Ravens or the 49ers.

A fairly tough last month of the season. NE and CIN @ home are good things. Last game of the season as usual will be critical.

4-1 at worst.

I think the SF could be tough but we also do a good job prepping for the first game of the season. I think that trend continues.

Biggest concern is health. 49ers are physical and we tend to go all out week one which leads to injuries.

Would be nice to start the season with a W and also come out relatively healthy.

Do the 49ers have a QB? I'm not sure that they know.

I agree at 4-1

I'm guessing 2-3 or 3-2.

It looks like we'll have a fair number of new starters on both sides of the ball. I think that often means that it takes a few weeks to get up to speed.

I think if we keep averaging ~ 20 ppg, there isn't a team that we should feel all that comfortable facing. And I'll believe that we're betting at scoring points when I see us scoring more points.

I'm guessing 9-8 for the season

It all depends on if we can score more points than our opponent in those first five games or not, if we score less than any of those opponents, then we will in all fairness probably lose those games, meaning we wouldn't be able to get to 5-0. So we really have to try really hard to score more points or we'll just look like losers.

Joos, out :D

Well, at a whopping 18 PPG last year, outscoring our opponents was not easy. At 28th in TDs scored, well, do the math.
But hey don't worry, Rooney brought the whole crew back! We have next year's excuses ready made. See how that works?

You have your accusations already made but nah..

Blame they will be based on how the games play out by reasonable fans.

Delusional fans will blame scholarships and last year even though the team won’t be the same.

The goal was/is to win games. The Steelers were blown out by the Eagles an Bills in 2022 (both on the road). The team had opportunities to win every other game. The Steelers could had finished the regular season 14-2 or 13-3 at worst. A play here or there and.... See how that works?

Won't be a bit surprised to see Dotson cut or traded, and if Jones can't beat out Moore then I question the pick. That said, I think he's the day one starter easily.

Either would I. Maybe he is worth a 7th round pick....if we can get it. The guy we signed for Philly starts at LG.

He would be facing Nick Bosa, then Maxx Crosby, then Myles Garret. That's a pretty big ask for a guy that started only one season of college.

Broderick Jones Learning New Technique
The Steelers are already getting to work on laying the foundation for Broderick Jones and his technique development under Pat Meyer. Notoriously, Meyer loves to teach independent hands. It simply means no longer will a team use a two-handed punch, but instead, use one hand separately, and there are many advantages to that. Regardless, Jones will have a learning curve to learn just that. Meyer worked one-on-one with him all day.

Not just that, but they are making adjustments to his kick step. Jones has a big flare-out right now that makes his first steps into his drop inefficient. He fails to unlock his back hip as he kicks with the front foot, so he has to rear it around to truly create the ‘sliding’ technique. Meyer is working hard to get Jones to unlock that hip so he basically just slides back in his kickstep. That will kick his center of balance up at his chest and keep his head stable, which will allow Jones to stay on track and not get beat inside. These are a few adjustments to his technique that the team wants to implement already.____________

Optimist says they shoukd be 4-1. No less then 3-2.

obviously ravens game won?t be easy.
not sure why fans think San Fran will be a def W. They?re already 3 point favorites without knowing who will start at qb.
I guess it?s the coaching advantage

The Steelers and NFL teams generally make changes at the bye week. What will ours be? Should our prized rookies be stating by then? Who will be hurt? Who will be demoted? I see one easy game and one hard game. Of course the Ravens game is the key,

Probably has more to do with where the 49ers finished last year, my guess is it moves closer to even as we get closer to the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if the one that the team traded up for in the first waits until the bye to start. We all hope he is ready to go week 1, but he is considered raw, and there is an incumbent. Otherwise, I would think that any other bye week changes would be the result of a failure in the starter, not the progression of the young backup.

fascinating -- so the "lines" put the team at 2-3.

I'm more in the 3-2 area (Raiders) but given the unknowns and patches, I could see why the lines are as they are. I also wouldn't be shocked by home wins against either SF or Ravens to get to 4-1.

Frankly, they need a good start as there are some tough stretches on the schedule.

We should beat the Raiders but I understand why we aren’t favored. Its a new team now, I hope the west coast is much kinder to Kenny than it was to Ben.

This.

I think it's certainly possible that the left side of the OL will be new for game 1 against the Niners. And I think it's likely that it will be different from last year by the end of the year.

A good portion of the off-season seemed to be about replacing Dotson at LG. Outside of an injury or two, I think there's no way he starts day 1.

I think Jones will start by the end of the year, but he doesn't have a ton of playing time in the NCAA so I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen day 1.

I think we need to see what we look like day 1 before we start predicting what we change at the bye.

For a young team like us, I'm glad that we have an early bye. It will give us some early data on the season and give us a bit to take a break and make changes / refocus.

I'm thinking we lay the smack down on the Raiders in week 3 but the Browns game is going to be a dog fight. Browns defense looks to be ( on paper) steller.

there's also typically a 3-point swing for home team. In other words, we'd be a 1.5 point favorite at a neutral site.
