I'd trade down. As much as its a good story to draft Porter there are lots on CBs still on the board

Nolan Smith was the last EDGE I would have held onto #32 for

You can trade down about 5-10 spots and maybe still get Branch or another CB

We are in a fantastic spot. Hendon Hooker & Levis available , raiders like Levis.

Let’s fleece them.

$$$$

Unless there's someone you're really in love with, trade back, maybe recoup a decent day 3 pick
Lots of good players left

I WAS all about trading down. I think it is still likely.

But I take Peezy 2 in a heartbeat now that he is available. I think he has a ceiling of elite but a lower floor than some picked before him.

I see a Richard Sherman type ceiling.

I honestly think THIS will show who has the power. If it is Tomlin it is Peezy, if Khan it gets traded.

Khan is a wheeler dealer but Tomlin likes his:

Our #32 is worth 590 points

If we trade back with the Raiders, their Pick #38 is worth 520 points and their 4th Round pick is worth 76 points.

Works for me unless they see someone at #32 that is a must have.

Yup.
They didn’t just stand pat and wait for someone to fall, they went after him.
Hopefully this group will take more power away from Tomlin.
It will probably hurt his ego but will benefit him in the long run.

Shows of power? Really?

How about our leaders work in a collaborative manner and come to mutual agreement. I guess operating like a professional business isn't exciting enough...needs to be a high school manhood contest:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Not necessarily. If they take Porter EVERYBODY wins.

You know I like corner like nobody here but even I said if you they trade down oline is the move, get corner at 32. I don’t think it is unreasonable to think Tomlin was down for that as there is no depth at tackle.

If they skip corner at 32, I’d suggest Tomlins preference was ignored.

Could or should we pass on a TE talent like Darnell Washington?

i think they likely pick porter. too much interaction in the draft process and growing up in the burgh to pass on.

but if they do get an offer they can't refuse, there's smith, ringo, stevenson, brents to pick from
some more guys at 49/80 too

I would not want to trade down much further than this. I've liked Julius Brents all along, so I wouldn't mind moving down a couple of spots and getting that 4th rounder back (improving to pick 109 in your scenario)...but you are rolling the dice on letting the top remaining corners get away. Like I said in another thread, we have no idea the priority the team is placing on corner or what their board looks like. Absent a trade down opportunity that is too good to pass on, I'm taking Porter.

Joey Porter is a big guy with average CB speed. If the Steelers think he can be a long term starter they are staying put at 32.

I'm thinking we are gearing our philosophy to control the clock , keeping our O on the field. We will trade back and get an extra pick and take a faster CB. We need a CB to cover Jamar Chase. That's what the Steelers are thinking.

If the Steelers really wanted to get Joey Porter they had him at #17.

If Tomlin wanted Porter that much, and had the power, why didn’t they trade back up?
You can’t tell me that if they had Jones and porter on their list at #17 that them moving back into the first wouldn’t be a huge ‘win’ in their eyes.
Both player acquisition and making organization and HC happy that they got they what wanted.

Perfect world.. a desperate team trades up to get the QB from Ky.. we drop down a few spots and get Porter and some draft capital. Otherwise.. if no suitable trades are there.. take Porter

The only team with Levis as their BPA is ESPN.

Word is Will Levis’ toe injury is a concern. He says its healed but teams are saying he needs surgery at the end of the year.

Would be nice if someone wants him at 32 but I think Hooker could go before him. I honestly think Levis was an ESPN pick that teams didn’t bite on.

This is how it's always portrayed.

The only exception I can think of is Ben.

ESPN pick. No

many sites/analysts had him going in the first. As early as top 10

If they never wanted to offer more then a 3rd day pick to move up.

that tells me they were ok to stay at 17 if the pats didn’t bite.
Even going so far to say they were “ extremely prepared for this draft” and liked their choices at 17

So who was the pick had they stayed at 17 with gonzo and jones gone??

I would think it mostly points to Porter jr. No ???

It woukd take a lot in an offer to move from 32 if that’s the case

I’m the pats trade the trade points were in our favor a bit.

lends to captLem theory of pats calling us to initiate the trade.
Or at least they knew what we were offering and accepted to move down

It’s going to take more than an additional 4th round pick if I’m khan to move down from 32; gotta be a third rounder for me to even listen.

that depends on how far down we're being asked to slide down.
