These mocks are getting harder. I think these simulators are liking many of the guys I like and moving them up in the rankings. The trades aren't as juicy. I ended up trading down in the 1st and noticed that Corral is now ranked about the 19-20 player on the board. There's a QB shift with guys going earlier than they were just a few weeks back. I suspect it has something to do with all the teams with multiple 1st rounders.

Anyway, here's my latest haul.

Jahan Dotson - WR - PSU
Carson Strong - QB - Nevada
Quay Walker - LB - Georgia
Alontae Taylor - CB - Tennessee
Josh Jobe - CB - Alabama
Scott Nelson - S- Wisconsin
Ty Chandler - RB - UNC

2023 Indy 1st
2023 Indy 2nd

Note that Indy took Corral with our 20 pick.

I actually like this draft if I like Strong. Not sure I do or not, but if he's good, it's a winner imho.

I hadn't really considered Scott Nelson before and now, but he sounds like he could be intriguing at a quick glance. But there must be some gaps in his game once I dig in for him to be available so late.

I ran a few simulations over the past week or so but decided to do one more after reading your post. I made a couple of trades and wound up with Buffalo's 3rd rounder next year and an extra 7th that I burned on Cam's brother. I also went full homer on Lake's son but he was a value pick on this board. A lot of small school guys but they all seem to be great value with a lot of production and upside. I gotta say that I like how it came out:

25. Devonte Wyatt DT Georgia

53. Bernhard Raimann OT Central Michigan

84. Christian Watson WR North Dakota State

138. Troy Andersen LB Montana State

208. Quentin Lake S UCLA

225. Justin Shaffer OG Georgia

241. Ali Fayad EDGE Western Michigan

258. Connor Heyward RB Michigan State (via Green Bay - moved down one spot in the 3rd round)

Plus Buffalo's 2023 3rd rounder for moving back 5 spots in round one.

I like it. Gotta run some more scenarios but it definitely seems like they have guys slots updated a bit and the picks are going different than a few weeks back.

Mine change up seemingly everytime I run a mock. I choose for every team and try to make decisions on what that fan base is wanting. Try to juggle the player grades between PFF, NFL, and Drafttek.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Aiden Hutchinson, ED
2. Detroit Lions - Kayvon Thibodeaux, ED
3. Houston Texans - Evan Neal, OT
4. New York Jets - Kyle Hamilton, S
5. New York Giants - Ikem Ekwonu, OL
6 Carolina Panthers - Kenny Pickett, QB
7. Green Bay Packers (from New York Giants for both their 1sts) - Drake London, WR
8. Atlanta Falcons - Travon Walker, DE
9. Seattle Seahawks - Charles Cross, OT
10. New York Jets - Garrett Wilson, WR
11. Washington Commanders - Jamison Williams, WR
12. Minnesota Vikings - Sauce Gardner, CB
13. Houston Texans - Malik Willis, QB
14. Baltimore Ravens - Jordan Davis, NT
15. Philadelphia Eagles - Derek Stingley Jr., CB
16. New Orleans Saints - Trevor Penning, OT
17. Los Angeles Chargers - Bernhard Raimann, OT
18. Philadelphia Eagles - Treylon Burks, WR
19. New Orleans Saints - Chris Olave, WR
20. Pittsburgh Steelers - Matt Corral, QB
21. New England Patriots - Trent McDuffie, CB
22. New York Giants (From Green Bay Packers) - Tyler Linderbaum, C
23. Arizona Cardinals - George Karlaftis, ED
24. Dallas Cowboys - Devonte Wyatt, DT
25. Buffalo Bills - Andrew Booth Jr., CB
26. Tennessee Titans - Kenyon Green, OG
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Zion Johnson, OG
28. New York Giants (From Green Bay Packers) - Devin Lloyd, LB
29. Kansas City Chiefs - Kaiir Elam, CB
30. Kansas City Chiefs - Jermaine Johnson Jr., ED
31. Cincinnati Bengals - Nakobe Dean, LB
32. Detroit Lions - Daxton Hill, S

Tough to leave Karlaftis and McDuffie behind, but QB is too important and Corral seems to be a decent prospect. It gets really hard to predict in the second round.

Hard pass on Carson Strong in Rd 2. I'd go Def Line

I don't think Corral gets past New Orleans. He'll be their next Drew Brees

More and more I like everything I read about Corral so wouldn't be sad if we got him. That said, I think Trubisky will be successful in Pittsburgh and would be OK with a QB next year.

Thuis would be a great draft, although I strongly doubt Watson lasts into the 3rd round.

D'Vonte Price - RB Florida International

It's weird to me how every draft, QBs suddenly become 1st round selections - even when you come into the offseason talking about how bad the QB class is.

I do think Corral would be successful in the system, but I worry that the team is drafting to a specific OC (Canada), not to a specific philosophy. What happens when Canada's gone and the team wants to go more vertical and they've drafted a QB that can't go vertical?

The 34 defense for example is a Steelers philosophy and not tied to one DC (although Lebeau gets a lot of credit). But the team sticks to the ideology regardless of DC.

Having said all that, Corral is the only QB who came into last season projected as a first rounder and maintained that status. Some moved up, some moved down - (where TF is Spencer Rattler?) So, I feel like Corral's the safest pick of all and is my own personal preferred guy. It's taken a few weeks to get here, but that's where I've settled.
