This is an interesting predicament given it's the prime time game on the holiday.

I think Baltimore has to go with backups. I don't think it's that big a deal because it's tough on players on both teams to make such a quick turnaround.

True.

You want to find people associated with the NFL who are not greedy?

Let's try Pat Tillman. A guy who turned down a 3-year, $3.6M deal in 2002 to enlist in what he believed was a higher cause.

Or Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif who opted out of this season to work in a long-term care facility in Montreal.

Aren't revenue splits about the same ~ 50%?

More players in the NFL I guess so the players have to share between more guys. But total revenue in the NFL must be higher too (but it's way different in the NBA where they have such small rosters).

Ya but NBA players are well paid according to their revenue and its mainly because the NBA has max contracts. In the NFL its just a salary cap, so one guy can end up taking up a lot of that money which is why the average pay per player is much higher for the NBA. The problem for the players in the nfl is that despite having a union they can't really get the big changes to the cba because the owners hold all the leverage.

I think NBA players make more mostly because they field 15 players instead of 53. And they have 30 teams and not 52.

NBA revenue in the last non-covid season was $9.2B. Assume a revenue split of 50% and that all teams field a full roster: the average salary is $10M.

NFL revenue last season was $15.3 B. Assume a revenue split of 50% and that all teams field a full roster: the average salary is $4.5M.

Basically, the NFL makes 1.6x as much revenue. But they have 3.7x as many players.

It's true that they have some exemptions to the cap and luxury taxes to go over. I think that the NBA is more driven by stars too, so the biggest name guys probably get a bigger slice of the pie than in the NFL.

But I don't think those things outweigh the number of players. I could be wrong though.

NFL declined Broncos’ request to let assistant coaches suit up and play QB
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 29, 2020, 7:37 AM EST

The Broncos were desperate enough for a quarterback that they asked the NFL to allow assistant coaches to play today against the Saints. But the league said no.
Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver reports that the Broncos asked if they could have one of their offensive quality control coaches, Justin Rascati or Rob Calabrese, play quarterback today. But the league would not allow it.

This has happened before. In 2009, the Eagles were short on quarterbacks in training camp and asked if they could have one of their coaching interns, Matt Nagy, play quarterback in a preseason game. Nagy, now the Bears’ head coach, actually practiced with the Eagles for one day before the NFL said that moving him from the coaching staff to the roster would constitute a violation of the league’s limits on roster sizes.

Rascati quarterbacked James Madison to the FCS national championship in 2004. Calabrese was a part-time quarterback at UCF from 2008 to 2012 and threw for 1,276 yards in his college career.

With those options out, the Broncos are going with practice squad receiver Kendall Hinton at quarterback today.

Might some teams now covertly expose their 3rd-string QBs to Covid and then isolate them, so they can get it over with, and lessen the likelihood of all their QBs being out with it at the same time? I would hope not, but you wonder.

lmao. No. That would be a terrible idea.

Ravens' Pro Bowl TE Mark Andrews, a Type 1 diabetic, has tested positive for COVID-19, per source. Andrews is out for Tuesday night's game vs. the Steelers and will become at least the 11th Ravens player to go on the Reserve/COVID list.[/

The Ravens have an utter disaster on their hands. I just hope sure the NFL keeps that stuff out of Pittsburgh because Baltimore has not shown the ability to do so.

Maybe the NFL will be the 1st to get vaccines. I'm sure there's a way to justify the economic impact. They get the public to pay for their stadiums after all.

read a headline where nurses were frustrated how athletes keep getting all this testing done yet some hospitals won’t let their workers get tested until its obvious they have it.

Steelers are now favored by 10, assuming the game gets played of course.

20 Ravens players are on the covid list not including injured players. That’s what a decimated roster looks like.

At least they still have a QB.
