Minkah is Digest Player of the Week

It wasn't supposed to be, but this turned out to be a game where every snap of the ball seemed to be having a direct impact on the outcome. Of course, that wasn't true, but on the plays in which Minkah Fitzpatrick was involved it seemed that it was. The 2020 Steelers became the first team in franchise history to begin a season with eight straight wins, and the record-setter was a 24-19 nail-biter against the Cowboys in AT&T Stadium.

Fitzpatrick finished the game with six tackles, a fumble recovery, an interception, and two passes defensed. His fumble recovery led to a 59-yard field goal by Chris Boswell. His interception came in the end zone and saved at least three Dallas points and also was the start of a Steelers possession that ended with a field goal. And one of those passes defensed came in the end zone on the final play of the game to preserve the Steelers' five-point margin and their undefeated season.

Fitzpatrick is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Ben Roethlisberger, who completed 29-of-42 (69 percent) for 306 yards, with three touchdowns, no interceptions, and a rating of 113.8; Cam Heyward, who had four tackles, three hits on the quarterback, and shared a sack with T.J. Watt that came on a fourth down play inside the two-minute warning that gave the Steelers' possession on the Cowboys 24-yard line; and JuJu Smith-Schuster, who caught six passes for 93 yards (15.5 average) and scored a touchdown.

That sack by Heyward is forever burned in my memory. Just pure, overwhelming strength and 'want to'. Rooney made the correct call to pay the man. Leads by example, and none better than the one he had yesterday.

Thank you, Minkah

Here’s one we should’ve mentioned Tuesday. But it’s just as good today.

Unless the guy has blown all of his money already.

Via ESPN.com, a bettor at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas “placed a $4,000, seven-team money-line parlay. The odds of all seven teams winning outright were roughly 110-1.”

Two of the bets that needed to hit were Maryland beating Penn State and Liberty clipping Virginia Tech. He managed to call those two upsets, as well as four other games.

All he needed for a monster payout was the Steelers to win as a whopping favorite over the Dallas Cowboys.

Well, with Garrett Gilbert throwing into the end zone to potentially win the game for Dallas on the last play, he probably wasn’t feeling so secure.

But Minkah Fitzpatrick broke up a potentially game-winning touchdown in the end zone.

Because of that, the gambler won a net $438,643.40 instead of losing $4,000.

That guy should name his firstborn child Minkah. In fact, if he already has kids, he should rename his firstborn child Minkah.

Even if it is a girl.
