I didn't see a thread for this yet and I hate to be the guy to bring his name back to the front page of the Board...so my apologies on all fronts. I don't know whether the below report is more funny or sad. I guess since I belly laughed while reading and didn't cry, I'll go with funny.

Simms: Antonio Brown got frostbitten feet in a cryotherapy machine

Today’s edition of PFT Live featured an amusing (but obviously somewhat serious) anecdote regarding the inability of Raiders receiver Antonio Brown to practice due to what has been characterized as blisters on his feet.

On Monday, PFT Live co-host Chris Simms said that the photos posted by Brown don’t reveal blisters but the peeling of layers of of skins from the bottom of his feet. Simms said that he once had a condition like that, thanks to what he called an “unidentified Buc fungus” in Tampa.

After Monday’s show, Simms got word from someone with knowledge of the situation that Brown burned his feet by entering a cryotherapy machine without the proper footwear, and his feet were frostbitten.

Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, did not respond to a request for comment.

The former Steeler started training camp on the non-football injury list. He exited NFI, practiced for a few days, and then was unable to practice. He has seen a specialist, and is regarded as day to day.

At Raiders practice, Antonio Brown’s son asks, “Where’s Roethlisberger?”

Thanks to a case of frozen feet, Raiders receiver Antonio Brown hasn’t been at practice much during training camp. On one of the days he participated, he had three young sons present.

As revealed in a clip disseminated by HBO from tonight’s debut episode of Hard Knocks, one of Brown’s sons asks his dad an important question: “Where’s Roethlisberger?”

“He plays with the Steelers,” Antonio Brown says. “Our quarterback [is] Derek now. We don’t play with Roethlisberger no more.”

Brown then tries to ensure that all three of his sons know the name of his current quarterback as well as they know the name of his former one.

“We play with Derek Carr,” Brown says. “That’s my quarterback. You know his name? What’s his name?”

“Derek Carter?” another one of them says.

Although Antonio Brown definitely knows the name of his current quarterback, there’s a chance that, by the middle of the season, Brown also will be asking, “Where’s Roethlisberger?”

Then again, for now it’s reasonable for Derek Carter-Carr to be asking, “Where’s Antonio?”

Lmao.

Let’s be real. Most of us don’t discuss our job situation with our kids. Even if he said they were moving I don’t think the kids would process it. Camp is camp to them.

Hilarious exchange.

Interesting thing about frostbite is it really never goes away. I had a mild case in 1980 and everytime I'm exposed to cold you feel it. Brown's is actually pretty serious.

If Nathan Peterman starts AB should switch to DB in practice if he wants the ball.

I've always heard frostbite never goes away. I think the skin/tissues/cells die. And I think it can cause nerve damage too. When I saw AB's feet, I wondered if this is permanent and may cause his play to deteriorate?

Is there a way to get frostbite of the brain? Going into the cryochamber head first might be the only plausible explanation for AB's erratic behavior.

Report: Antonio Brown goes “radio silent” on Raiders

Posted by Mike Florio on August 9, 2019, 12:38 PM EDT

Antonio Brown got what he wanted, and the Raiders should have known what they were getting.

Chase Williams of WPXI, the NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh, has reported that Brown already has gone “radio silent” on the Raiders, as he obtains treatment away from the team on feet that were frostbitten last month in a cryotherapy chamber.

Here’s the specific content of the tweet from Williams: “10 practices into training camp and Antonio Brown has already gone ‘radio silent’ with the Raiders. They have zero clue where he is or what the progress of the foot injury is.”

It’s impossible to know whether this report is accurate, in part because no one connected to the team is publicly saying anything about Brown’s injury. It had seemed that the Raiders were mum in order to avoid making Brown look bad or foolish for freezing his feet; maybe the Raiders are saying nothing because there’s nothing to say, and because they just don’t know what’s going on.

If the report is accurate, folks in Pittsburgh will shed no tears over this development, given the manner in which Brown behaved at the end of his nine-year run with the team. Folks in Oakland will be dismayed by the situation, but they shouldn’t be.

Brown wasn’t punished but rewarded for quitting on his team in Week 17. There’s no reason to think that he learned any lesson from his final days with the Steelers because, at the end of the day, he won.

ZGENERAL10THGRAF AB out for ‘months’? Olympic gold medalist Gatlin shares his experience

ANTONIO BROWN. – MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Well, this doesn't sound ideal. Antonio Brown suffered a foot injury from a cryotherapy machine. Seriously.

That landed Brown on the non-football-related injury list, and it's reportedly caused tension between the Raiders and him already.

10 practices into training camp and Antonio Brown has already gone “radio silent” with the Raiders. They have zero clue where he is or what the progress of the foot injury is.

The preseason hasn't started yet, and the tension is already high with Brown and his new team.

Now, there's this from Olympic gold medalist sprinter Justin Gatlin.

Speaking with TMZ, Gatlin said he suffered an identical injury to Brown's once after failing to equip himself with the proper footwear in the cryotherapy chamber.

"It was a disaster," Gatlin said. "I had, like, boils and blisters all over my ankles."

Wait, it gets worse.

"He's not going to be able to run those routes properly without healing his feet totally," Gatlin said. "Every day I had to get those blisters popped by hand by a therapist ... It just got really, really bad."

While there's no official timetable for Brown's return and he is currently listed as day-to-day, Gatlin has his doubts that Brown could return within a reasonable amount of time.

"Two things: One, it's Antonio Brown. He's amazing at what he does," Gatlin said. "But at the end of the day, what I sustained, the injuries I sustained from that, it took months — months — of recovery."

The Raiders signed Brown to a three-year, $50.1 million contract that contains $30.1 million in guaranteed money.

If Gatlin's prognosis is correct, the Raiders might just be rethinking everything before the season begins.

Yikes

It's kinda crazy that in three separate recent trades between the Steelers and Raiders, WR's Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant both went from Pittsburgh to Oakland, and WR Ryan Switzer went from Oakland to Pittsburgh.

Looking at the current status of each player, it's now entirely possible that Ryan Freaking Switzer could be the most impactful WR of that group for the 2019 season.

Did no one tell him that he can't wear a Steelers helmet on the Raiders?

This whole thing is gold.

Maybe he wants them to remove the logo from one side?

per:
https://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2019/08/09/antonio-brown-freaking-about-new-helmet-late-to-meetings/
who report a tweet string from Michael Silver:

5) His continued frustration surrounding the situation has created a buzz among teammates and coaches, one of whom referred to the saga as “honestly the most insane thing I have ever heard. I don’t know why it’s so important to him. It doesn’t make any sense.” ...

Sounds like someone in the Black and Silver has an "ownership mentality".

I originally wasn't really a fan of these AB threads. But this is hilarious.

The helmet he want's to wear has "fallen short in laboratory testing for head-impact severity". With his history of serious brain injury, you'd think he'd be interested in upgrading to a safer bonnet.

https://twitter.com/MikeSilver/status/1159911472098504704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5 Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1159911472098504704&ref_url =https%3A%2F%2Fpittsburgh.cbslocal.com%2F2019%2F08 %2F09%2Fantonio-brown-freaking-about-new-helmet-late-to-meetings%2F

10) When he showed up for the 1st OTA, however, Brown requested his old helmet. After being told he’d have to wear an approved model, witnesses say, the WR loudly voiced his displeasure, complaining QBs such as Brady and Rodgers were not being subjected to the same scrutiny...

11) Shortly thereafter, Brown stormed out of the facility in protest. Later that day, Raiders officials found video footage of Rodgers, during the Green Bay Packers’ OTA session, wearing an approved-model helmet and texted it to Brown...

12) The following day, Brown showed up in Alameda and acted like nothing had happened, accepting the new helmet from an equipment manager without protest and completing the workout...

13) However, sometime in the next couple of weeks, Brown once again tried to take the field with his old helmet, which he had since had repainted with colors approximating—but not completely mimicking—the Raiders’ silver-and-black design...

.....

19) Brown, according to witnesses, typically glances at the screens of several tablets and his smart phone during meetings, distracting himself by engaging in activities which include perusing his bank accounts and “liking” photos on Instagram...

Antonio Brown believes the new helmet that the rules mandate he wears protrudes out and interferes with his vision as he tries to catch football. The Raiders have been sending Brown other approved helmets to try out but, at this time, he is not interested in wearing any of them.

It didn’t take long for Antonio Brown to make an appearance on the second episode of Hard Knocks on Tuesday night, as the Raiders WR showed off his injured feet in the opening minutes of the episode.

Brown, whose wildly insane issues with his helmet seem to be over, suffered frostbite on his feet when he didn’t wear the proper socks on his feet when he recently did a round of cryotherapy.

He showed the bottom of his feet to the NFL Films crew and called them “circumcised” as he put them up for the cameras before working out on his own:

8:06 PM - Aug 13, 2019

He also explained on the episode how he suffered the injury. Per ProFootballTalk:

“I got out, and I felt my foot burning,” Brown told the NFL Films crew. “I was like, ‘Man, I feel a hot sensation.’ The next like 24 hours it swelled up. It got really big. I couldn’t really walk or put pressure. The doctor came over, drained a little out. Scalpel the next day. Freaking scissors the next day. Just kind of let it leak all out. As everything leaked all out, I was able to put a little pressure. Thankfully, my trainer was working me out in the midst of my freaking. . . I can’t be on my feet.

“Now, it’s just like new skin, I’m just trying to get my feet used to feeling that, but I feel like I’ve just got a . . . big whoopee cushion. You know?”

Well, that doesn’t sound great for the star wide receiver or the Raiders, who expect big things out of him this year.

So yeah, it should be interesting to see how quickly he can get back to being 100 percent.

Will Antonio Brown sue over his frostbitten feet?

Posted by Mike Florio on August 16, 2019

Lost in the shuffle of Raiders receiver Antonio Brown‘s return to practice and his scavenger hunt for a less-than-10-year-old Schutt AiR Advantage with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time are his frostbitten feet. More specifically, how his feet became frostbitten.

Yes, the Raiders and Brown reluctantly have acknowledged that he suffered the injury while inside a cryotherapy chamber last month in France. No, they still haven’t said how it happened.

Via MJ Acosta of NFL.com, agent Drew Rosenhaus said at Raiders camp on Tuesday that “they can’t divulge any information as to the cause of the injury to the player’s feet because legal action against the cryotherapy company involved could be coming in the near future.”

Given that the injury happened in France, that could be a difficult and expensive lawsuit to bring. Even if a claim would be made against the manufacturer of the unit — and even if the unit was made in America — whoever owned and operated it would be a necessary party to the action, which would make France arguably the correct location for filing suit. Also, multiple reports (starting with Chris Simms on PFT Live, who first had the news of the cryotherapy debacle) have indicated that Brown failed to wear proper footwear into the chamber.

This means that Brown potentially has some responsibility for his injuries. Which would complicate any lawsuit that may be brought. Which makes it far less likely that a lawsuit will be filed.

Of course, an actual lawsuit doesn’t have to be filed. Suggesting that someone else may be civilly responsible for the injuries provides convenient cover for the apparent reality that Brown is partially if not totally responsible for the injuries.
