So both Devins are out of reach, the Iowa TEs, Greedy, Baker, and Murray are gone. There was a run on D, dropping WRs and OL.

trade back to with Indy
get :26+34 (1260 pts)
give:20+66+83 (1285 pts)

then trade to Houston
give 26 (700 pts)
get 54+55 (710 pts)

we end up with :

2.34 Thornhill DB/ Gardner DB/ Adderley FS
2.52 Irv Smith TE
2.54 Butler WR
2.55 Winovich OLB
3.66 Pratt ILB
4.122 Hill RB
5.175 Boykin WR
trade 3x6/7 to move up Moreu TE

Trade down scenario is always interesting. I'm on board with Steeler George in that both ilb's and both te's will likely be off the board when we are up at 20. If we do trade down as I wrote on another thread we will not trade down very far. Colbert's theory on that. Colts could be trade partner as is Texans at 23 n Raiders at 24.

have the Steelers ever completely traded out of the first round?

Not that I can remember, but I know they have traded out of the 2nd with denver, they took a CB forgot name, and ...

I think they find too much value in that 5th year option that is attached to 1st round picks, but we seen how that has turned out recently!

With that in mind, I will change my draft... new target Oak & LAR

Give: 1.20, 3.66, 3.83, 5.141 (1320.5 pts)
Get: 1.27, 2.34,4.106 (1322 pts)

{ AB=3.66, 5.141}

Then trade with LAR
Give 1.27, 6.175 (704 pts)
Get: 1.31, 3.99 (702.4 pts)

1.31 Thornhill DB
2.34 Winovich OLB
2.52 Irv Smith TE
3.99 Pratt ILB
4.106 Boykin WR
6.192 trade up for Moreau TE
6.207 trade up for Moreau TE
7.219 trade up for Moreau TE

I don't think they trade down if the Devins are off the Board & couldn't trade up. Depending what happens there may be no TE, OLB, WR there either. I think they make the most unpopular pick in here & take Wilson. That's if Balt doesn't leap frog us.

This will be on the FO & Scouts. He just turned 21. Power 5. If he goes back to school like many suggested & plays to his potential...He's a pick in a different conversation. I don't think he gets out of 1st or I would say give up 3rd & trade up top of 2. There is White/Bush..Little drop off..Wilson..Then a steep bank. Wouldnt be my favorite selection in 1st but may pay most dividends with who is on board. Still Armed with 3 more picks day 2...I would stay optimistic.

The most straightforward tradedown scenario if the Devins are off the board before 20 would be with Oakland (and we certainly have their number on speed dial since we have made 3 separate trades with them in the last year involving AB, Bryant, and Switzer). The numbers work out EXACTLY according to the standard trade chart.

1.20 = 850 pts.
2.52 = 380 pts.
Total = 1230 pts.

1.27 = 680 pts.
2.35 = 550 pts.
Total = 1230 pts.

We'd give up picks in the middle portion of rounds 1 and 2 for a pick in the latter portion of round 1 (moving down 7 slots in the first), while jumping up to the top of round 2 (the 3rd pick on the second day of the draft...a 17 slot jump in the second).

It's probably just me but I don't make that trade without a sweetener after the way we got fleeced with a 3rd n 5th for AB. Toss in a 6 for 2020 regardless of the numbers that are not an exact formula anyway.

However, in the other two trades combined...

we got:
Multiple seasons of Ryan Switzer, a mid 3rd round pick in 2018 (3.79), and an early 6th round pick in 2019 (6.175).

they got:
Half a season of Martavis Bryant and a mid 5th round pick in 2019 (5.158).

This makes a lot of sense, Wilson may not be a reach when said and done.

You can't give away 66 and also keep 66. With that mistake corrected you are still sitting at only 4 selections in the top 100, I wouldn't trade out of the first and not pick up an additional top 100.
