Agree.

Tim Settle is another name that makes a lot of sense at this point.

The pick is Marcus Allen. More of a replacement for Golden than anything else.

Give me Tim Settle. Obo if he's gone.

Maybe Hamilton makes it to 7 or Carter from Maryland. I want Henderson so maybe UDFA.

Agreed. Throw Jack Cichy and Jamarco Jones in the mix

Jaylen Samuels, NC State. Looks to me like another Will Johnson / David Johnson type. Which is fine, but I'm not sure it's worth a 5th rounder. If we were going to go offense - again - I'd rather at least add somebody with return ability.

Jaylen Samuels. Head scratcher. H-Back. Not even the best H Back available. That would have been Dimitri Flowers.

Bye Bye Fitz Toussaint....mercifully

Happy with Marcus Allen..but a fullback in the fifth? I would have taken Kevin Tolliver from LSU.

Roosevelt Nix just signed a new deal a few months ago...

Samuels isn’t a FB...

I like the Samuels pick. He offers roster flexibility and the ability to disguise offensive looks. He can play running back, has the size and reasonable speed, can play FB, TE, flex him out into the slot etc and so on. He was a serious redzone target for the Wolfpack. I think he will see the field this season.

Correct. He will be the #3 RB and a chess piece for the offense. Does everything well nothing great. Somewhat of a luxury pick. Not sure we had the luxury

This!! He isn't just a FB. Good 3 position player

True! Dimitri Flowers was a better player though.

doesn't really fit anywhere and really not needed

you're not taking LB out near the goal line so the red zone threat is negligible. can't see him lining up at TE at 5'11 and scaring anyone

whatever, he's a 5th rounder but don't see the fit or need

I would disagree strongly with that. Look at the film on this guy. He is a much better offensive player than Will or David Johnson. I would say they were best as blockers but this player has very good offensive ability. He has a lot of catches and runs for over 5 yards a carry from the backfield.

My first impression is that he will make this team and I have never been a Fitz Toussaint fan. Samuels looks way better.

Interesting. I read this FB/TE/WR was extremely efficient when he touched the ball.

I wonder if he can block?

who's the last hybrid player like this that the steelers have been able to use successfully?

much better off taking players with defined roles and positions, imo

I'd like to see the Steelers draft Kevin Toliver or get him as a UDFA if he drops.

Any list of names who the Steelers are looking at for UDFA yet?

a safety who can only be effective in the box and a hybrid te/rb/fb with no position. who is he going tp replace on offense?
at best these guys will make the practice squad
i really liked wr and qb pick, hated OT pick(should have been a linebacker)
yes, round 6 are throw aways more thasn likely, but geez. should have just thrown a dart at your draft board

When is the last time Randy Fichtner was OC?

Samuels will make the Steelers as a running back not a hybrid te/fb/wr. He was versatile and talented enough to serve different roles in college but in the NFL, the rosters have talented players at all the positions; therefore, he won't be needed to play different hybrid positions.

He is clearly talented enough as a runner and receiver to beat out Fitzgerald Toussaint and also Stevan Ridley, I think. James Conner will also make the team.

Part of this is due to Todd Haley's style as OC. I'll tell you a guy who was misused.... some of you may laugh...

Will Johnson.. As a WVU fan, I watched him play TE throughout college. Ran a 4.5 to 4.6 40 yard dash... could have been a weapon as an H-Back/TE...as well as FB.

Frazier I'm sure our new coach was hitting the table for. We all knew he was on the radar even though it was bama. He has a legit shot to stick.
