As Yates indicates, Cobb has had plenty of interest since being released by the Tennessee Titans at final cutdowns. A 5th round pick in 2015 under the old regime, he carried the ball 52 times for an average of just 2.8 yards per carry and one touchdown. He failed to register a run longer than 12 yards.

He was dumped by the Titans after they drafted Derrick Henry and traded for DeMarco Murray while Antonio Andrews beat him out due to special teams value.

Cobb had a highly successful career in college with Minnesota, rushing for over 1600 yards and 13 touchdowns his senior season with the Golden Gophers.

The Steelers met with Cobb at the 2015 Combine and attended Minnesota’s Pro Day. Cobb was not brought in for an official visit.

Pittsburgh has been busy checking out running backs the last two weeks. They brought in Karlos Williams for a workout last week. Williams is currently suspended for the first month of the season. It’s unclear if the team is close to signing Cobb or if this is their attempt to keep their emergency list updated.

Cobb still has practice squad eligibility but may be waiting for injuries around to the league to open up a more direct path to a team’s 53 man roster.

The Steelers are currently carrying five running backs on its total roster, not including Le’Veon Bell, who is on the Reserve/Suspended list. Two of them, Cameron Stingily and Brandon Brown-Dukes, are on the practice squad.

Alright...but now, it might also be time to start working out some TEs, OLBs, slot CBs, Ts, and maybe a blocking FB (is there any news on Rosey Nix)?

He was signed to the PS and replaced Stingily. Nice move. Cobb was well regarded last year as a late round pick, and gives the Steelers nice depth on the PS.

Hope he never has to see the field this season.

I would think he is better option than Touissant or Richardson. I could see those him swapping positions with one of them after Cobb learns the offense
