I'm going with S Landon Collins.

He seems to fit the criteria of a steelers first round pick.
A very productive player
From a big program
Junior
In for a visit
No drama

Maybe BPA
and at a need position.( i don't think we know for sure what thomas or mitchell have to offer)
I also think he can do some of the things Troy did.

I think the Safety position starts to become an option around pick 20 for all nfl teams. I don't see many teams ahead of us desperate for a saftey.

lol its not really drama but when I think of Landon Collins I always remember how pissed his mom was when he committed to Bama over LSU

Collins just isnt what the steelers need. My pick is Ray, i just think the stars aligned to make him a steeler

I gotta think it's Ray as well. Unless the toe is an issue with the Steeler medical staff.

I think it will be Kevin Johnson. He just seems to be the "safe option"

I would take peters if available

Rowe is my darkhorse

Going with Peters ... best all around CB in draft.

K. Johnson is weak in run support. Not working for Tomlin.

I'm thinking Eric Rowe.

But either a LT or NT, if they 'fall' might be the guy. Goldman could be the guy (calm down K Train), or the one LT that I can't place with any confidence as to his draft ranking- Andrus Peat. I can't tell if Peat is a top 15 guy in some teams view, or pick #45.

I think we'd prefer Damarious Randall over Landon Collins at safety...he certainly is rising up draft boards...could be a guy no one mentioned at #22 until now...

I have Randall going 34 to Tampa but I wouldn't be surprised at all of he was a first rounder. Been on the Randall wagon for a while now.

I don't think Kevin Johnson is safe at all btw. Aaron curry was supposed to be the safest linebacker ever and he was a mega bust...until wake produces a good pro I am hesitant.

Dupree will go top 10 I think

So is Trae Waynes; they both can cover but aren't necessarily excited about being at the point of attack on a running play.

Good call on Rowe as a darkhorse. That pick wouldn't shock me.

I'll predict that Kevin Johnson will be off the board and that a falling Ray will be the pick.

Alvin Dupree

I think nobody in this draft will benefit more from the Ray and Gregory problems than Alvin Dupree. He was a guy who was mocked in the second half of the first round up until last week. He was heavily considered to be the number 5 edge rusher, with Fowler number one and the other three flipping around between two and four. Suddenly he is widely considered a top ten pick. I think that he was considered to be a good value pick at 22, but at 8? This guy better meet the lofty expectations that go along with that athleticism, otherwise some GM is going to find himself on the hotseat.

For what it's worth, Wexell predicts that the pick will be Peters:

I am hoping that Waynes and Johnson are both gone when the Steelers draft at 1.22, both are really good cover guys and have ball skills, however, both seem timid or easily blocked in the running game. If Butler, as he has said, isn't going to make a lot of changes the Steelers will still need cornerbacks that can tackle. I don't want them to be tempted. :D

I'm leaning more and more towards Shane Ray. It's starting to sound like he's actually going to be there and if he is I think the Steelers run to the podium.

Trade down a few spots (IF someone wants to trade up for a RB still there(Dallas?)) then draft Rowe.
