The names keep coming as the Dolphins prepare their list of candidates for their vacant general manager job.

We’ve already heard that the team has already received permission to speak to Giants exec Marc Ross, Titans exec Lake Dawson and Browns exec Ray Farmer about the job. Now Albert Breer of NFL Network adds three more names to the list.

Per Breer, Steelers director of football administration Omar Khan and Cardinals V.P. of player personnel Jason Licht are expected to interview for the opening created by Jeff Ireland’s departure earlier this week. Breer also reports that Dolphins assistant general manager Brian Gaine is also going to interview for the next job up the ladder soon.

Like the previously reported candidates, Khan, Licht and Gaine have made the interview rounds as general manager jobs have opened up around the league in recent years without being tabbed. Their chance to change that starts when the Dolphins open the interview process on Friday.

I know nothing about Khan and doubt his departure would be meaningful to what kind of team Pgh fields. What is a director of football administration? Not a GM.

He is the guy that handles the cap issues.

Steelers exec to interview for Miami GM job

January 10, 2014
By Ed Bouchette / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Miami Dolphins are interviewing the Steelers’ Omar Khan today for their opening as general manager. The Dolphins received permission from the Steelers to talk to Khan.

Khan, 36, joined the Steelers in 2001 as their chief contract negotiator and salary cap coordinator as well as other duties in the front office. His current title is director of football and business administration.

Khan was a finalist to become general manager with the New York Jets last year and president of the Seattle Seahawks three years ago.

Anticipating that he might leave for a promotion with another team, the Steelers last year hired Samir Suleiman to assist Khan in his duties with the title of football administration coordinator.

if he leaves that will suck, but normally companies project out finances 5-7 years...I'm sure we have a road map laid out and how to manage this cap propaganda...how can we say KHHHHHAAAAAAANNNNNNN if he leaves?
