Much of the Steeler's problems come down to the fact that they tried to extend their run of success by keeping expensive players around for one more run at glory. Unless you are both lucky, and have impeccable skills, eventually that comes back to bite you. In order to continually keep high priced vets around, and keep extending them, you need to balance that with low-cost draft picks. And this team has not hit on enough of those to keep the cap in check.
