I don't know if any will start, but I could see Le'veon Bell having the best chance.

Barring injury none start.

But there will be an injury and Thomas will start for Troy. I also think Bell starts unless Dwyer surprises folks even more than he did last year.

Thomas may have as good a shot at contributing right away as anyone. He could be used in the nickle and dime packages. I wouldn't be surprised to see him matched up with some slot WRs and taking Gay's spot or even replacing Foote next to Timmons on 3rd downs. I think there's quite a few defensive packages where they could use him right away assuming Carnell gets him coached up.

Jarvis Jones, after the inevitable Jason Worilds injury.

My call is both Jones and Bell starting.

I know DeCastro was supposed as a plug/play guy and didn't... but I really think both Jones and Bell bring that ability as well. I think Jones is better situated to start right away. The fact that they even had Jones so high on their radar, says something to me about what they think of Worilds (not much). Jones is probably already the better rusher, and will only have to prove adequate vs. the run to beat out Worilds.

As for Bell, even though he's supposed to be a good pass-blocker and receiver, he's going to have to prove that at the pro level.

Or the even more inevitable Woodley hamstring or whatever else.

He might outplay him, but no way does DL take Foote off the field cause he's the one out there calling the plays.

I would hope Jones & Bell. That would mean they both are special.

If I'm predicting..I would say Bell should top the depth chart by week 1 based upon who will be on the roster. If Redman, Dwyer, Howling, & Batch are his only obstacles...I would say that is what they call "By Default." If they decide to cut/trade one of Redman/Dwyer & sign Bradshaw because he would take min...Then I may say Bell would be part of a rotation. To me...Bradshaw, Bell, Redman or Dwyer, and Howling scream "facelift"!

Timmons has experience doing it.. pretty sure that transition could happen without much pain...

Agreed. Not to a sixth round rook.

Another exercise might be to see who makes the cut, and where.

My predictions:

Jones - starter
Bell - starter
Wheaton - ST player and 4th WR who sees the field more than our fourth would normally be expected
Thomas - Backup SS
Jones - 3rd QB this year, second string QB next year
Hawthorne - fighting it out with Brown and Van Dyke for the fourth and fifth CB spots. Just as likely to be one of those spots as relegated to PS
Brown - I'd say that Sanders, Antonio, and Wheaton are pretty much locks. Cotch would be the next best thing. Will have to fight it out with Cotch, Plax, and Gilreath to avoid the PS.
V. Williams - Has as good a shot as any sixth rounder should. There are openings, and the guys he will battle with are not standouts. Foote and Timmons locked at ILB. Two spots left with Sly and McFadden being the toughest competition.
N. Williams - training camp body who is a long shot at best
