Just have to say that I love what we are seeing in the new offense. This guy has given plays that take a lot of the pressure off of the line and Ben, brought Miller back into the receiving ranks, put some wrinkle plays in, found that we have an underneath game, put running back into the crosshairs of the opposing defenses, all while letting Ben be Ben.

Really glad that we got him.

Agree. He is exactly what we needed. It shows that change needs to occur periodically to take you to the next level.

Need a similar change on the other side of the ball.:stirpot

Only thing I don't like is we put 20 up on the board in the first half....7 in the second. We need to start putting our foot on the throat of opponents or one will come back to haunt us.

Three already have come back to haunt us.

Agreed. We have already seen it happen this year. It's like back in the Cowher days of "build a lead and then take the air out."

We had this amazing "prevent offense" back then.

As for the second half losing stuff, some of it has to fall on the defense. (enter Ovido in 3, 2, 1, ....)

Even so, the Steelers outscored the Redskins in the 2nd half...

I don't agree with this. Why can't it fall on the offense to keep scoring? ALWAYS has to fall on the defense for most Steelers fans even though that unit carried this team for the last decade. Now that ALL the rules favor the offense, then the offense can keep scoring instead of putting 20 up on a team in a half then turtling up.

I don't think that the new offense turtles up...I just think that they haven't executed as well in the 2nd half...

I thought that Haley did a particularly nice drop on the first drive. The WR screen that went to Heath was an excellent call. You know that Washington had to be looking for the screen, and that call takes advantage of that. I also liked the goal line play actions.

Haley has put together a balanced offense, and I feel like it has more room to continue growing.

If Sanders catches that 3rd down pass... and ST's doesn't do what they always do... this game would have been a bigger blowout.

We had the game by halftime...I'm not a fan of putting up 40 points just cause we can...

save some of those points for next week.

And if the Redskins receivers hadn't dropped 11 passes this could have been much closer or even worse. Their receivers were the best defense for us on the field. If you can score 40 then you go out and score 40.

Disagree completely.

An OC change was needed because quite frankly BA was not a good coordinator and the offensive development was completely stymied under his watch. It wasn't a case of needing a change for change sake. BA's inability to make in-game adjustments was notorious. He relied on Ben's talent to drive the offense, rather than building gameplans that made sense for the opponent. Why did BA continue to let Ben throw the long ball when we all have been screaming that dump-offs are available on almost every play?
I get the sense that when the O struggles this season, Haley at least as some ideas on plays to get things moving again. Seems under BA, if Ben had no magic that day, the Steelers were sunk. While the has struggled to put points on the board, you can't say that they have been completely snuffed in any games this season.

but if you can't score 40 and 27 will win the game... don't. try to score 40... bad things happen when you try to run up the score. This isn't college.

how do you know in advance that 27 points will win the game?

That is the question. We don't know in advance so in this day and age you have to keep scoring. Look at the Dallas/Giants game from this week. The wonderful Giant 4-3 defense had a 4th quarter collapse and were lucky they didn't lose.

You need to score, score and score some more.

The steelers still have one of the best defenses in the league but they aren't dominant. We have to depend on the offense to win games ... not on the defense to prevent the other team from scoring.
