View Full Version : Disappointing Loss but Don't Overreact...

Desperate opponent...
No Woodley or Polamalu...
Lineman out...
RBs out...
Blocked punt leading to TD...
Two dropped INTs on the last two Titan drives...
Potential Game-Winning FG just short...

- all on a short week. Like I said, disappointing (especially the D & still no push in the run game) but not as deflating as Oakland...they'll get better as the season goes on.

This team is not good at all... We could be 1-5 easy, against a some what soft schedule.

Respectfully. Excuses don't matter. If this is the quality of our backups there's no way we CAN overreact. Besides, how can anyone justify all the penalties?

We can't keep waiting for players to get healthy and come back. The season will be half over. Completely disagree with you. A competitive playoff team has to win these games. Plus, we didn't have Troy and Woolley for much of last game against Philadelphia , which is a far better team, and we won.

Coach should have went for it on 4th down instead of try a 54 yard field goal. If not go for it, punt. Why was Harrison in pass coverage on the big play to the tight end? Best pass rusher in coverage? I don't get what the D is doing? Many of the starters are out, no time to get cute with the defensive calls.

well said SL. Its weird when I am so spoiled that I expect the defense to be dominating and then see Matt Haselbeck pick the D apart like Palmer did.

No excuses... I thought we were winning before the half until I looked at the score. This team is very creative at making bad teams look good.

The other problem is the injuries... how many Titans were injured tonight? Are we drafting soft lineman? WTF...

DL needs to go... how many times are we going to see our defenders confused or out of position on 3rd down?

The titans were 1-4 and on a short week too. They were able to overcome. Just more excuses. The steelers only consistent quality this year is to make crap teams look like sb champions.

We drafted Gilbert. He's taken out two OL's, a RB (IIRC), and now himself. He looks out of shape and at a weight beyond hope of any agility.

What are you in my freaking head? I couldn't agree more. I was literally screaming the exact same things during the game. No way you take that chance putting the Titans at midfield, the way the defense was playing. And to put that kind of faith in Suisham in that spot, is just plain stupid. And that's not hindsight, I was yelling at tv to not try a fg there. This season is headed down the drain fast. The Steelers have become the Bengals, on their way to becoming the Browns if they're not careful.

This team used to thrive during adversity.

Now it sees we get bogged down in it.

Almost like the mentallity of the whole defense has changed.

Disturbing and dissapointing.

Don't mean to piss on anyone's cornflakes, but apologists and silver-lining peeps need to check themselves. We've climbed the mountain six times and staken our claim on this league as WORLD CHAMPIONS! Anything other than that or at least a competitive hope of that is an unfulfilled season. We've made Carson "I left my ACL with Kimo" Palmer and Matt "Brokeback" Hasselbeck look like SB MVPs. We suck and we need to get young quick.

I've been wondering if maybe it's the strength coach. Are these guys strong enough. They always seem to be getting pushed back into each other, contributing to the injuries. On the tuck ruke play where Ben got sandwiched, Starks was driven back into Ben, and Colon was tossed to the ground like a rag doll, and Ben got crushed by those respective defenders. They don't seem to be playing at the same strength level as the rest of the league. It's crazy seeing these guys drop like flies.

Agreed! And I think we are looking at a pick in the next draft from anywhere from 10-15 this year.

The OL and secondary are a complete mess. The offense might improve this year if the line gets somewhat stabilized, but this season is going nowhere. I agree that it was a bad decision by Tomlin to kick that 54-yarder. Out of Suisham's range and if you miss? Well, we saw what happens if you do. Ben missed a couple of key throws too, even though he was under duress when he let go of the ball. Plenty of blame to go around in this game.

Dude you just pissed in my cornflakes...that's just mean. Kidding aside, I never said there weren't problems (I specifically mentioned the O-Line & the D) - I just said there factors that contributed to the loss & it was not as bad as the Oakland loss. I agree - we've become one dimensional & the defense seems unable to stop anyone, but if Lewis catches that INT the game is over & everyone's talking about how much the team overcame. It isn't being an apologist or silver-lining peep, it's just keeping things in perspective.

Yeah, a one-man army. He's taken out our brand new OLman, our best OLman, and our best RB. He's singlehandedly done more to wreck our game than anyone else including the opposition. Which dunce keeps him on the field?

I suspect he's on the Rats' payroll.

You may be on to something...I was thinking it was odd that Ben has so many "Comeback" or game-winning drives (second only to Peyton) & I thought to myself how Peyton covered so much of the Colts inadequacies & wondered if it's the same with Ben.

You need to post more because you hit the nail on the head. We aren't a good football team right now. After we attack the Eagles and beat them using that style we go pasive against one of the worst etams in the NFL. It's like our defense, or the Coord, has a personality disorder. We're the freaking Steelers. We attack and destroy offense we don't sit back and play "tackle the catch"

How the hell is it even possible to overreact? This team is 2-3, 0-3 on the road, and have looked god awful doing it. They've blown double digit second half leads in 4 of the first 5 games, being lucky enought to pull out the win vs. the Eagles at home. And it's not like these road games were at NE, at Bal and at SF. They were at Den(not horrible loss but not good), Oak(horrible loss) and Tennessee(even horribler loss). And this is the so-called "easy" stretch of the schedule. It's going to get a lot tougher in the coming weeks. So, I for one after watching the 2012 Steelers play 5 games to this point, don't believe it's at all possible to overeact to what we've seen this far. This a bad football team, with discipline, physicality and identity issues in addition to talent and injury issues. That doesn't bode well for expectations of a successful season.

Not so many game-winning drives last season and this one, but I think its true that Ben has covered a lot of team's inadequacies.

This team isn't very good right now. They just aren't playing well and have a lot of problematic injuries keeping their playmakers off the field at important times. I do believe that if healthy and playing with attitude, they could beat any team in the league.

Let's see who gets hot in late Nov. & Dec. all these teams have issues.... Ravens are getting run on, Houston is getting beat at the present time, SF laid an egg, NE choked in Seattle....Entire AFC East is 3-3? Wow. Right now, it's anyone's guess as to what will happen.....
