A lot of people on here always start with the stupid sh*t.

It is the first preseason game and we are putting a lot of new guys on the field. This includes two rookies who didn't have a lot of OTA practice and have two weeks of training camp under their belts.

Quit with the chickenhead sh*t, sky is falling, same sh*t every pre-season.

I always liked the "wicker basket" lebeau filter on the old trib board.

OL sucked vs. the Eagles...obviously needs to be revamped (again). What are Marvel and Flozell up to? Is Faneca in playing shape? Those of you who watched the HOF induction--how did Dirt look? Hate to say it, but bringing back Kemo and Mahan might even bring upgrades. Unless we get some new blood on the line, this team will be lucky to go 6-10 this season.

:) Just toyin' with ya. BigRob, you're absolutely right...way too early to panic.

Now, if we're 8 or 9 games into the season, and still seeing the same kind of performance from our OL, that'll be another story.

So when are we allowed to discuss things that need attention? Will you let us know the approved date for that discussion?

How about after a sample size large enough to make a real determination?

If you are just going on the first quarter and a half of the first preseason game, you should already be talking up Jonathan Dwyer's upcoming 8,000 yard season rushing the football...

While I don't think that it is an Earth shaking topic, some have opinions. It's a forum. That's what happens here. Don't like it? Don't participate. No one here is the final answer on when a topic is worthy enough to be brought up. Not even you.

Yeah DJ, but aren't you doing the same thing? :D

Rob, Slappy and others are just giving their opinion that it's too early to be making any type of assessment and they are being critical of those who they feel are doing that.

You are giving your opinion that everyone has the freedom to discuss what they should want and are being critical of those you feel impede any open discourse.

I agree with all of you.:tt2:tt2

I couldn't possibly agree more. after all, this is a Steelers' message board.

a lot of us are excited that football is finally here once again so of course we are going to take this opportunity to express our opinions. we all realize that it's only been one game (and a largely meaningless pre-season game at that) and that the sample size isn't large enough to come to accurate conclusions. however, all we have to go on is one game's body of evidence for now and of course football-starved fans have every right to post their observations.

to expect all of us to refrain from discussing what we saw in the first NFL game we have seen in a long time (seems like forever) in a forum such as this one is just as unreasonable as jumping to conclusions about certain players after only one game is.

Three words: Pot. Kettle. Black.

I never attempted to stifle your opinion at all, sir.

I merely answered this question:

So when are we allowed to discuss things that need attention? Will you let us know the approved date for that discussion?

Forgive me for not recognizing that it was a rhetorical question...

I also should have put a smiley in my response...:-)

As a classic over-reactor, I personally appreciate the other end of the spectrum. And I typically need this reminder after the first preseason game. I'm like clock work with my expectations. I want our next SuperBowl every year and am always overhyped for the first preseason game.

Heck, I expect perfection out of guys that have no chance at making the roster. I secretly wish every UDFA will get cut many times and someday turn into the next James Harrison. I know I'm irrational, but isn't every fan in some way?

I view this board as therapy for our common addiction. We're all different but at the same time all the same. I know I should have adult sensibilities by now, but I react with childlike wonder every single Steelers snap. :)

Be honest, Flip. You're a very upscale, highly gifted over-reactor. We all wish we could over-react with the same over-reactness that you have demonstrated.

(insert your preferred smiley here.)
