What a blatant cheap shot against Lefty. That kind of shot on a QB deserves the longest suspension ever from Goodell. If he cares about player safety.

if James Harrison had done it there would be a suspension forthcoming.

however, Cromartie is definitely going to get fined...

Had the potential to be a Clark-McGahee type of collision. Except Leftwich is nearly twice as big as DRC, plus he saw him coming.

Rodgers-Cromartie will soon be hearing from the league

During the first quarter of Thursday night’s game between the Steelers and Eagles, Philadelphia cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie launched at Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich, hitting Leftwich in the head after Leftwich had thrown the ball.

Rodgers-Cromartie correctly was flagged for unnecessary roughness.

He soon will correctly be fined.

The launching made the outcome more flagrant than the run-of-the-mill helmet-to-helmet hit on defenseless players. In fact, it could have justified an ejection.

If the league is serious about removing such dangerous blows from the game, it arguably merits a one-game suspension.

That was a completely flagrant chickensh!t play. No excuse for that period, but it seems even more ridiculous since it was a preseason opener and that was our backup QB. This guy is a chump.

Can't say that you've been missed during the off-season. :p

Sorry that RoCro gave you the opportunity, but now that he has, it was top-tier aggregious and deserves recompense.

Whatever happened to Dave Chappelle?

My friends and I never could decide which was the funniest skit of all time.

I think it's a toss up between the one Wayne Brady skit and the N*****s skit.

Apparently there was some fighting with Comedy Central about creative control. Then he got burnt out and just quit. I hope he comes back someday. Such a funny, talented guy.

My two personal favorites were Prince and the one about the black white supremacist, Clayton Bigsby.

Rodgers-Cromartie: Hit on Leftwich was clean, “no question”

Posted by Michael David Smith on August 13, 2012

http://www.totalprosports.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/late-hit-unnecessary-roughness-on-byron-leftwich.png

Eagles cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie launched at Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich in last week’s preseason game and was flagged for unnecessary roughness, but Rodgers-Cromartie doesn’t think he did anything wrong.

Rodgers-Cromartie told Sheil Kapadia of PhillyMag.com that he doesn’t think he’ll be fined, and that there’s “no question” in his mind that his hit on Leftwich was clean. He also said he has no regrets about his hit on Leftwich.

“Regrets? We’re playing football, man,” Rodgers-Cromartie said. “The Bible said don’t live a life of regret.”

Rodgers-Cromartie may have the Bible on his side, but he doesn’t have the rulebook on his side. It’s a foul if a player leaves both feet prior to contact to spring forward and upward into his opponent and uses any part of his helmet to initiate contact. It’s also a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against an opponent in the act of throwing a pass or just after throwing a pass. That’s what Rodgers-Cromartie did to Leftwich, and that’s why he’ll be fined.

They should fine his coach. Hold the coach accountable for his player not understanding safety rules. Goodell cares, right?

Peter King>MONDAY MORNING QB

Goat of the Week

Philadelphia CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, for his irresponsible launching and shoulder/upper arm cheap shot of a defenseless Byron Leftwich, the Pittsburgh quarterback, in the preseason game at Philadelphia. Rodgers-Cromartie is in line for a significant fine -- maybe six figures. I think it's worthy of a suspension. That's one of the most egregious hits I've seen in the league in the last couple of years -- worse than James Harrison on Colt McCoy, because you could argue that Harrison thought McCoy was a runner when he lined him up to hit him. Rodgers-Cromartie launched himself in violation of a well-publicized rule, and then hit Leftwich in the head in violation of a well-publicized rule. Luckily, Leftwich walked away, seemingly fine. The next victim may not be so lucky.

My buddy said he thought he read it was $21,000.00 Thanks for your response FF. I truly believed Goodell would have allowed this infraction to slip by being preseason and it was a Steeler that got the lumping. Had it been Ben, I'm sure Goodell would have done zilch about it.

Maybe next year if Chuck Batch ever retires, we can bring in David Garrard as another backup. Then we've have the most clobbered QBs in the league that ref don't seem to care to protect.

You said it. If Goodell really cared about the players he would have set the tone for this season with the correct punishment. Goodell is in this for the money or the fix of the game.
