Not so much to do with Arians as it will be a need to get Saunders on the field more and that will be at the expense of DJ.

Here's the thing. Tell me what Johnson does well?... Does he pass block well up on the line of scrimmage? No... Does he pass block well in the backfield? Meh... Does he blow open holes in the run game? Meh... Does he run good routes? No... Does he catch the ball well? No... On all counts I think he's just okay. He doesn't do anything well. I don't think you keep a guy who doesn't do anything well. Either get a good fullback who can block. Or get a good TE who can run and catch. Don't keep a guy who is mediocre at both.

I suspect (hope?) that the Steelers will employ a true FB in 2012. Baltimore has utilized the position too well lately for us to ignore it any longer.

I said yes. I think whomever comes in will employ a true fullback this season. We need to have a true blocking tightend on the roster. That is what DJ will be this year. WE cant fill all of our holes this year. DJ is servicable, and will be here.

:Agree :Agree :Agree

I said all season that Johnson was the Tyrone Carter of the offense. A guy who has no business on the field.

Yes, DJ will be here.

If only because the Steelers will tender him at the lowest level and I don't think anyone will sign him away...well, possibly the Colts will...

Waste of a rooster spot. You can get an undrafted guy out of college with as much ability if not more. Hynoski would have been fantastic in B & G as a true, bruising fullback. Pray there's another guy like that (6'1"/265) that they can pick up.

Tendering him or not is actually kind of an interesting decision. The lowest tender is roughly $1 million or so, and there is a decent chance that the Steelers could find somebody to do the same job for half the price.

Johnson has occassional flashes as a blocker, but doesn't have the consistency that you'd want from somebody who should be a blocking specialist.

Like many, I'd love to see a true blocking FB. The Steelers don't need to return to three yards and a cloud of dust, but the threat of a power run game should open the passing game.

If the Steelers are going to continue using an H-Back, I'd prefer to see somebody who excells as a receiver. Another big threat in the middle of the field with serviceable blocking would be preferable to Johnson.

I doubt it. Rooney II said he didn't want a FB. Well, maybe he didn't actually say that. But I'm only doing what so many others have been doing the past few years. Anything they think they simply are sanctioning it by saying Rooney II said that. But, then again he did not say he did want a FB either. Then again that would be up to the new OC. No?

Personally, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

I think he might be here, but hope he is not. Dude isn't an NFL caliber TE or FB.
