A little Schadenfreude is OK, ain't it?

Funny how both of them lost because of special teams...

Here's hoping the Giants beat the Pats, but after Eli gets knocked out of the game...but after what I saw today I doubt it. Without those two critical STs turnovers the Giants are going home, but of course they will spin this like it was all Manning.

I think the 49ers defense and home crowd and crappy weather for a pass-first team probably were factors that won't be duplicated in Indy vs. the Patriots. Patriot D is a lot closer to what the G-Men faced last week when they whipped the Packers. Patriots didn't look awfully "elite" themselves, today.

I don't care how... no Harbaughs in the Super Bowl makes it watchable!!! Now let's have the Giants win it and improve it from watchable to... meh. Whatever. (which is as good as it gets unless it's the B & G's 7th!) Watching the *'s win would suck, too.

League needs to schedule a consolation game (this year only), Ravens vs. 49ers. Loser forfeits their first two draft picks. Winner forfeits their first draft pick. Now THAT would be INTERESTING!

Jim Harbaugh: “This team is not defeated”

49ers safety Donte Whitner summed up his team’s situation shortly after their devastating loss to the Giants.

“It’s not the end of the world, but right now it feels like it,” Whitner said Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

It’s an especially tough loss because the 49ers did so many things well. The rushed for 5.4 yards-per-carry. They sacked Eli Manning six times and hit him 20 times overall, according to FOX.

The Giants dropped back to pass a ridiculous 64 times, and averaged only 4.2 yards-per-play on those dropbacks. They played nasty defense, but special teams gave away ten points and their offense went 1-for-13 on third downs. Alex Smith hit a few big pass plays, but couldn’t get anything going to the outside to their wide receivers.

After the game, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh looked like the air had been sucked out of him.

“It’s be a tough one,” Harbaugh said. “It’ll take a while to get over it, but we’ll get over it. This team is not defeated. . . . A man can be destroyed but he can’t be defeated as long as his team knows that there’s hope.”

The future is bright for the 49ers, but they face a ton of offseason questions. Alex Smith, Carlos Rogers, Dashon Goldson, and Ahmad Brooks are among their free agents.

The team will look a lot different next year, which is one reason why this loss stings so much.

His brother never thinks his team was defeated after a loss either.

Good one, Ruthless! The Harbaughs never give credit to their opponents when they get beat. Glad neither won today.

OK, Hairball, you win. Your team was "destroyed" not defeated.

Can I get a "decimated"?

I've been watching Mike and Mike this morning. They've replayed a clip probably a dozen or so times, it was Harbaugh's face when Cundiff missed the kick. You can read his lips "He pushed it". Rice is right behind him and Suggs is to the left of him. such a PRICELESS moment.
