Mayors betting local food products on big games is so 2011. The new currency is Tebowing.

If the Broncos upset the Steelers on Sunday, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has agreed to dress up in a Broncos jersey while Tebowing in front of an iconic Steel City destination, according to the Denver Post.

Tebowing is defined as "getting down on a knee and starting to pray, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different," according to Jared Kleinstein's popular blog Tebowing.com.

Should Ben Roethlisberger's team win, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock will don a Steelers' jersey and wear a yellow "Terrible Towel" to a public gathering.

The boys in Vegas place the Steelers as a huge 8.5-point favorite, despite Sunday's game being played in the Mile High City. Mayor Hancock, a former Broncos mascot while a senior in high schooll, is confident that Tim Tebow will end his recent string of lousy play.

How bad are things for the Broncos? Denver would be favored on a neutral field against just 29 percent (nine teams) of the 31 NFL teams, according to R.J. Bell of Pregame.com

The Broncos lost their past three games of the regular season to the Patriots, Bills and Chiefs by an average score of 29.3 to 13.3.

But Tebow's motto is Any Given Sunday -- or should be, anyway.

"Denver is excited to host the Steelers for this playoff game and confident in our Broncos," Hancock told the Denver Post. "We're looking forward to sharing that photo of Mayor Ravenstahl 'Tebowing' ... say at Heinz Field?"

The Mile High Mayor has announced today is "Orange Friday" in the Rocky Mountain city, in honor of the Broncos return to the NFL postseason.

The Mayor shouldn't "Tebow" in front of an iconic Steel City symbol. It belongs to Pittsburgh and the citizens didnt make the bet. Im not sure why, but that would tick me off beyond belief.

I just hope he doesn't make a bet with the mayor of Boston if we play the *'s. No telling what they'd ask him to do.

Last I checked the Mayor is a citizen.

Last I checked the Mayor is a citizen.

He's a public servant acting for the entire population of Pittsburgh.

I saw a cool story about some young kid getting cancer and took a pic of himself tebowing while he was chemoing. He sent the pic to Tebow via Twitter, Tebow responded, and brought the kid to a Denver game.

So while I think the whole Tebowing thing is kinda lame, I did think a nice story came out of it. And I'm a closet Tebow fan. He seems like such a nice kid. It's gonna be a shame when James puts a hurting on him this week.

I can only imagine the media backlash if Harrison were to hurt Tebow.

Agreed. Life is short. Don't sweat the small stuff.

The mayor would have to film all future Steeler practices and forward the tapes to the league office so that they can be "destroyed"
