The Eagles won't be there but Moorestown's Albert Young just might.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday's NFL finale. That opened the door for Young to join the team's practice squad in time for next week's Wild Card playoff game at Denver.
The move hasn't been officially announced by the Steelers but it was confirmed by both young and his agent, Jerrold Colton, on the social media service twitter. Young did not return messages Tuesday.
With Mendenhall absent, Paulsboro graduate Isaac Redmond assumes the Steelers starting running back position with rookie John Clay in reserve. Mendenhall's roster spot was taken by defensive back Anthony Madison after cornerbacks Keenan Lewis and Cortez Allen were lost to injury and safety Ryan Clark was deactivated because of health concerns.
Young was a member of the Minnesota Vikings during his first three NFL seasons, spending his first on the Vikings practice squad and appearing in 10 games in 2009 and 2010. He has rushed 25 times for 82 yards in the NFL. Young was a late cut by Jacksonville in the preseason.
