...and step away from the edge. Before we crown Baltimore the class of the AFC & rip our team apart, let's keep the game in perspective - Woodley, Farrior, Hoke & Sanders were out...Hines was knocked out of the game by a intentional helmet-to-helmet hit...we got a new punter/holder just days before the game...& despite all that & numerous bad calls - it took a last-second TD for the Rats to win. If the Ravens fanbase or national media thinks this win suddenly transforms Flacco & the Ravens into an elite team (& I'd be glad to send them the game-film from the Jags loss to remind them) then they are fooling themselves. Let the Rats celebrate their "Super Bowl" with Gatorade showers & showy post-game speeches, the Steelers ARE champions & will be there when the playoffs start.
Stay classy Baltimore...

Well said. Though for me personally,..i'm no where near an edge. From where i stand,..this season (and quite possibly the next decades worth) is simply a byproduct of "What you fail to handle, will not fail to handle you".
But i'm good, i'm old school dude,...i went through the late 80's. We'll bounce back eventually.

Perspective is not what a lot of fans have after losses. I've read so much negativity after every loss that I believe there is no hope for some fans. They don't seem to
The Raves game was a tough loss. It was like losing 2 games. However, there are still 8 games to be played. Season isn't over yet.

I don't think anyone is on the ledge but if we lose to Cincy we will be.

You made some good points. But, Farrior? Come on. He was awful the first time we played Baltimore and has hurt us all season. Foote and Sylvestor have played well (better than Farrior).

Terrific post. I suspect we will see these same Ravens again in the playoffs. Let them run their yaps.

Ravens fan here. Check my past posts on here. I am not here to troll. I posted after the season opener that the Steelers were better than that performance.
The Steelers are still the AFC Champs and the team to beat. As a Ravens fan of course I enjoyed the win but I also keep it real and know it is a long season and winning a game against the Steelers on the road is a great accomplishment it is not the season and doesn't equal success in the playoffs.
As far as the Steelers. I agree with the opening post to some degree.
Not being emotionally attached to a team can allow for objective views at times. Breaks and bad calls are part of the game and I rarely get on officials. Good teams play through that. The Steelers came in less than healthy, somewhat suspect kicking game, and came close to winning a hard fought game. I hardly think the Steelers are done, (heck, with 8 seconds left my son texted me and said it was a great win. I reminded him this is the Steelers and there was 8 seconds left.) That comes from repeated success. The Steelers have played through some injuries at key positions and still are in the hunt. As a Ravens fan I am not counting them out.
Cincy will most likely do their usual fade/implode unless it is the every few years minor success run they experience. Of course all the planets have be aligned, one solar flare shoots at the precise time of kick off and one or two other planet altering events take place.

I gotta say I was pretty surprised that they did that. I guess it shows how much we are in their heads. Looking forward to round 3. Now lets go take care on Cincy - no time to lick our wounds from Sunday night.

Prepare to climb out there. This is not the Bengals of Ocho/Palmer, etc. This is a young, hungry team with a top D and an unselfish O. I warned the Steeler nation last week when eveyone was almost counting the Baltimore game as in the bag and I'm doing it again this week. 20 points will be hard to come by and I'm not sold that our D can get them off the field on third down.

The Ravens win over the Steelers had a "monkey off the back" aspect to it, and the Ravens celebrated with Gatorade baths as if they had just won the Super Bowl.
The Steelers win over the Patriots had a "monkey off the back" aspect to it, and the Steelers simply drank their Gatorade to re-hydrate...no need to shower in it following a regular season victory.
One of these two reactions came from a team with championship pedigree. The other came from a group of wannabes. They followed up their 35-7 opening game walloping of their rivals with an underwhelming performance against the Titans the following week. Would anyone be surprised if Baltimore blew its load once again, and underperforms in a loss in Seattle this weekend? They still have a Jaguar game (or first half against Arizona) performance or two in there just waiting to rear its ugly head once again.

First to Shutout...welcome to the board, you'll find that other fans or other teams have been welcome here by exhibiting equal parts of humor, objectivity & a thick skin. I appreciate your view of the game & share your concern about the planets aligning in Cincy's favor. And in all honesty, I appreciate that Suggs came right out & gave the team the respect it deserves.
Considering the statement about Farrior...I don't care if the consensus by the fans is that he's not playing up to par - if the coaches felt he was the best option, then he's the guy I want in there. That is not anything against Sylvester, it's just that experience does count for something & another body was needed considering the team was so thin at that position that they were considering playing Keisel at LB. If anything it shows what many of us have been thinking - that the squad will be bringing in more LB talent next year.
What the game did show was that the team still needs improving (especially in the redzone & defensive adjustments) & that if they don't take care of business that more of these outcomes are likely.

In the first game, the Ravens were the better team. They kicked our buts up one side and down the other. No questions about it.
In the second game I don't think I can say the same thing even though they won. If you told me that we would have one int and only give up one sack, and averaged around what was it? 5 yards a carry? Then I'd say we kicked their butts up one side and down the other.
We lost the game on 3rd down defense AND offense.
I would relish the opportunity to play Baltimore in the playoffs.

We may get that chance, but it looks like it will be in Baltimore. Both teams still have to play surprising Cincy twice though, so you never know.

TWO THINGS:
#1: the Ravens do NOT wanna see us in the playoffs ...even if its at home.
#2: the Steelers started the trend (followed by the Giants and Packers) ....but Home Field advantage isn't what it use to be. It's nice, but not necessary.
This weeks game will tell us a lot about where this team is heading.
