No wonder they can't sign anyone. Only the Giants have less cap space at $70,000.00

Under the new agreement, I thought all the teams have to use all of their salary cap space every year? If that's true, 1) how are teams circumventing this requirement? and 2) what a dumb rule.

I believe the cap floor starts next year. So it will be real hard for the Steelers to sign FA with lots of competition.

During the whole CBA talks there was an exclusion that was being talked about as part of the next two-three years. I believe each team was allowed to designate a 3 mil exclusion this year and 2-1.5 next. Not sure about details/numbers but does anyone know if the Steelers used their exclusion?

Yes, they did use their exclusion and the amount quoted by PFT includes that figured into it.

The Steelers will utilize one-time exemptions that provide $3 million in salary-cap relief this season. Beyond that, a number of things could happen this week: The Steelers must get in compliance with the salary cap, which will be $123.375 million for them, by Thursday.
