Ben Roethlisberger has a sprained left foot, team sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. The sources, however, would not speculate on the quarterback's status for the Pittsburgh Steelers' game Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

A scan performed Monday on Roethlisberger's left foot was negative for a fracture, the sources said. An MRI on Sunday had indicated a possible fracture but the test was inconclusive because of swelling in the foot.

Roethlisberger on Sunday said his foot was injured on the second-to-last series of the Steelers' 17-10 loss to the Houston Texans when he was tackled from behind. He remained in the game but had trouble walking afterward in the locker room.

He was wearing a walking boot when he left the stadium.

He had an X-ray after the game, but said Sunday he didn't know the results.

"I don't know. I'm still worrying about this game," Roethlisberger said. "It's still too fresh in my mind to worry about next week yet."

Playing with a foot injury wouldn't be new for Roethlisberger. He played part of last season with a broken right foot.

"You know me -- if I can be out there, I'm going to be out there. That's so for next week, too," he said Sunday. "If I can do it and if I have to cast it up -- we saw I had to do that last year. I casted up my foot for the last half of the year. If we have to do it, I'll do it."

Roethlisberger was sacked five times Sunday, hit several other times and hurried throughout the day behind an injury-plagued offensive line.

Information from ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen and The Associated Press was used in this report.

To tell you the truth, I would understand if he's finding it hard to get up in the morning lately.

No this isn't a Viagra ad. :Boobs

What I mean is: could they pay you enough money to be in the ring with Mike Tyson, and no headgear?

I know it's "part of the job", and he needs to get out there and do what he's paid for, but he's only human.

I'm almost positive he'll play if he can at all. It's just mind blowing that he's been able to get out there and do it so long. In a way, sometimes I can't help thinking of him as cannon fodder.

Very expensive cannon fodder.

It's more like being in the ring with Tyson who happens to be weraing 4 oz gloves or bare knuckles and then no head gear.

I'm assuming this is a joke. All he told the media was that it hurt and he didn't know how bad it was yet. What I would have expected from a vindicated drama queen was him calling out his o-line for putting him in this position in the first place.

If he did that we would be complaining that he's a whiny little bit$h like Manning was in 2005 for calling out his line.

Ben needs to take a seat. Does he really think he can be of any help hobbling out there on one leg. It was painful enough watching him operate while healthy. I know some fans love this kind of bravado, but I one who believes it might benefit everyone if he would take a day off and regroup.

Exactly, but he didn't, and he had a lot more cause to do so than Manning did at the time.

That cartoon is certainly a joke. Ben I think was a little bit of a drama queen early in his career. I think he's the toughest QB in the league right now.

Slow developing pass plays with 7 step drops behind this line is like Steve-O running into Tyson's fist and breaking his own nose.

Hopefully, Ben being hurt will force the O to use more quick developing plays and to take some of the underneath stuff. Otherwise, I don't have high hopes for Ben's health.

YOU are exactly right ! This guy has stunk up the joint healthy this year ! Tomlin should bench him NOW ! Why have backups if the coach refuse to put them in when the starter is hurt and a liability to the team. if Ben starts this week Tomlin has no balls.
