1. Last week I was having trouble caring about making a quality post. This week I am struggling to make it fresh.

2. Interesting season. Of course, we say that at the start of every season. Why? Because we enter each season with a boat load of preconceived notions skewed by meaningless preseason performances. Operating against a backdrop of parity, every NFL season surprises us.

3. The game starts with the Steelers unable to convert that 4th and goal. I agree with the call. I’m glad Tomlin made it. Do you give the Seahawks credit or give the Steelers criticism.

4. This game provides the perfect perspective from which to understand why I call myself redundantman. After a game like this the clichés are so thick in the air you have to brush them away from your face.

People will come, Ray … now apologize for Waterworld.

5. Every year we have a game like the Raven game and every year we have a game like this one. Some overreact to the outcomes; forgetting what has gone before. Some overreact because it taps into the essence of fandom and makes everything so much more exciting.

6. Some underreact because it gives them the perfect platform from which to cluck their tongues and admonish everyone for overreacting. I like to call these people “moderators”.

Yeah! That what SHE said! ... <crickets>

7. Some underreact because it just hurts too dang much to let ourselves get carried away; opting to be pleasantly surprised instead of incredibly disappointed.

8. I say all that to remind ourselves of the hard truth: this game meant nothing.

And how ….

9. I say all that to remind ourselves that the Steelers still lost a divisional game and won an inter-conference game whereas the Ravens won a divisional game and lost a conference game.

10. Consider that the Steelers needed no more than a safety to beat these chumps. But they spent all that effort to score 28.

11. The Steelers had 7 turnovers and lost by a lot of points last week … well, duh but like I pointed out, why merely suck when you can suck with style? The degree of the flameout made it at least mildly entertaining.

12. This week the Steelers played a team that was already mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, and won by many points … well, duh … and that’s … all I have to say …

Facebook: Stupid TV, be more funny!

13. The Steelers are in last place in their division … but yeah, I feel GREAT about beating a team with Tavaris Jackson at QB.

14. I mean, can you imagine being so utterly devoid of hope that you would consider someone the caliber of Tavaris Jackson to be your starting QB?

Oh yeah … I sort of do …

15. Perspective: Teams are about chemistry. Chemistry typically takes time to develop. Coaches can quicken the process but they run the risk of not allowing the team to be what it can be and instead force it to be what they thought they wanted it to be. Tomlin seems to be one of those coaches who prefers to assemble the men and let “it” happen. Two weeks into the season we’ve learned little about how this team wins or loses because the loss came with 7 turnovers and the win came against the Seahawks. Both instances fall well within the realm of statistical anomalies. If you are a betting man, find another team to bet on and as for the Steelers … enjoy the ride!

Dear Redundant man - Please put away the Justin Bieber photo and go back to Beaker?

Good stuff, Kent Graham was a scary scary time....... Mike Tomczack was only marginally better.

I think she is of age but don't sell yourself short ... you're still totally a perv.

Excuse the H3ll out of me! I overreact all the d@mn time. What are talking about moderators under react? You don't post often enough to know when the moderators over react to anything. I'm considering banning you right now just on principal and because I can!

I'm too caught up in this stuff to even know when I'm over or under reacting. Sometimes we all need to be called out.

If we could only all react the right way.

I think that's why I come to the Planet. To gauge where my reaction lies and validate if it's right or wrong.

But then I get here and some are over reacting and under reacting right along with me validating my reaction.

And others are reacting differently. And I get all confused and wonder if my confusion is an over reaction in and of itself.

I just want to be a good fan. And isn't over reacting just a part of being a fanatic? And if I under react, do I have to turn in my fan card?

It must be hard being redundant. It sure requires a lot of thought and introspection to be so obvious ;)

Well you know, if you aren't going to get into it and go a little crazy, then why bother watching? The emotion behind sports is what inspires us.

Sapp not persuaded by Steelers’ win over Seahawks

Posted by Mike Florio on September 22, 2011

http://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/harrisongetty-e1316703811486.jpg?w=239

On last week’s Inside the NFL, Warren Sapp said of the Steelers: “Old, slow, it’s over.” Those comments came after Pittsburgh lost in ugly fashion at Baltimore, 35-7.

This week, after the Steelers shut out the Seahawks, Sapp is sticking to his guns.

“By playing the Sisters of the Blind Seahawks, now that rights the ship in Pittsburgh?” Sapp said, via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “[Troy Polamalu] is still dragging the wagon. Who is there to cover on the Seattle Seahawks, Cris [Collinsworth]? You would start at receiver for them right now. Where were [the Steelers] last season? The pinnacle, the Super Bowl. They lost that. This group of players is coming down. It’s over.”

That’s all the more reason to tune in on Sunday night to see if the Steelers still have it. If they do, they’ll trounce the Peyton-less Colts in Indy. If the Steelers don’t have it, Kerry Collins and company could win the game.
