This doesn't look like a 280 lb tackle to me. I like the way Mclendon plays.

I like what I see with McClendon when given the chance. Someone commented that we only see him during scrap time. I don't know if that's true or not but, if it is scrap time that is exactly what a good player should be doing.
The guy is quick, has moves and big. I would like to see him lay some of that on Flacco and Brady.

The last time that he saw 280 was many, many milk shakes ago.

While it may have been "scrap time", the Seacocks still had their starters out there...

I believe McLendon had two sacks in the preseason and was credited with half a sack in yesterday's game. he may very well be getting groomed to take over for Big Snack one day...

He plays with a lot of fire and energy.

I like McLendon because he seems to be more of a pentrating NT like Hoke while Hampton is more of a dig in and hold your ground type.

McLendon reminds me a lot of Jay Ratliff from the Cowboys (6'4" 285lbs)

Hamp is good for 3-4 steps, so expecting penetration should be done only twice/yr. I like McLendon's energy. He should get more time. Hamp can eat while Mac plays a few downs.

To answer the question on this thread.....No. I think the future NT for the Steelers is currently on the roster of the Washington Huskies.

Actually, I think that McClendon could be an excellent NT in a 4-3...

Technically, a NG plays over the C in a 3-4, so, there is no NG in a 4-3. They are NT's. Just saying- :D

Am I wrong or have I seen Ziggy play some NG at times.... I'll have to keep any eye on him.. Then again, the way LeBeau does things, he's got guys playing all over the place. Heck Troy could play NG in a game down the road-NG- well, maybe not.

Both positions are functionally interchangeable...like in the 3-4, a 4-3 NT lines up over the center and can be responsible for maintaining both A gaps...

Oh, and Ziggy does occasionally line up at the nose...

Nah...our future NT is John Hankins, 330# Ohio State defensive tackle. The dude is a load. :)

I think Hankins is only a sophomore...I don't think he would benefit from coming out early...

Certainly the only hole in my NT theory. :)

Yes, he is a sophmore but might come out after his junior season. He can really collapse a pocket, and I think he could find his way into the first round after another season in a half.

Hankins is no joke but the best one for this year is Ta'amu from Washington. If he puts it all together, He may be another Haloti Ngata.
