There was a mention of this in one of the several fine articles in todays PG. I had not seen it anywhere till now. Not that it had not been one of the new rule changes discussed here but I just missed it and was unaware of it.

Yeah, each week I save the GAMEBOOK and did not notice that last week the Steelers only deactivated 7 players and dressed 46. Most teams will only activate 2 QB's choosing to add a more likely to play and contribute position player. Uh! Why is he bothering us with this seemingly triviality you may ask? Check out this tidbit which was at the end of one of todays really interesting articles.

"You want a gamble? The Baltimore Ravens have just two quarterbacks on their roster, Joe Flacco and rookie Tyrod Taylor from Virginia Tech.

Batch, on the NFL Players Association executive board, said the new rule was a compromise during negotiations.

Previously, teams were permitted to have 45 of their 53-man roster active for games with a 46th deemed the third quarterback, which carried some weird rules as to when he could play and repercussions that went with it.

Now, a team can designate 46 players as active for games -- whether they chose a third quarterback or not."
