I'm usually not one to jump on the bandwagon of signing every veteran that gets released, but Bryant McKinnie certainly jumps out as an interesting name.

He was reportedly out of shape, but does he have anything left in the tank? I don't watch the Vikings closely enough to know one way or another, but it seems like he might be worth at least bringing in for a visit.

you mean this member of the Minnesota Vikings' boat scandal?

and didn't we just cut an overweight OT?

Bryant McKinnie

McKinnie allegedly picked up a naked woman, placed her on the bar and performed cunnilingus on her in front of the crew and other guests. Later that evening McKinnie and three other men were spotted sitting in deck chairs receiving fellatio from four women, which was also observed by the crew in a public area of the boat.

Saw on the news up here in MN that he reported grossly out of shape, and the Vikes are carrying a high salary on him ... that and the Love Boat is about 3 strikes and he's out.

Dammit, I saw the thread title (had already read it a few times) but misread it as Bryant McFadden. Didn't think this bum would still be at the top of the page. Why's he here again?

McFadden is far and away our second best DB...that is why he is still here.

I don't know about far and away, but I agree he's our second best corner. That's why I clicked the link. call it shock. but for it to be McKinnie (he's who i was referring to as a bum), was a major let down.

Vikings | Bryant McKinnie struggled with weight

Wed, 03 Aug 2011

Free-agent OT Bryant McKinnie (Vikings) was released by the Minnesota Vikings because he reported to training camp at close to 400 pounds. Indications are McKinnie did not refuse to restructure his contract but the team decided to release him.

Seems there is another photoshop opporunity here for you digitally talented members with Bryant McKinnie, the Love Boat, and "owned".

Not sure the Love Boat would be big enough to hold today's supersized McKinnie.

Leon Searcy on Facebook has 'ripped' McKinnie asying he should know better than turning up out of shape. Called him unproffessional.

Can't say I disagree.

Maybe. It is really hard to say without seeing a guy like crezdon butler get a chance out there. I'm hopeful that butler opens some eyes in this camp and preseason. I've already given up on keenan lewis.

When healthy McFadden is an average NFL DB. Gay will never be more than a slot. And everyone else besides Ike are either duds or unknowns.

Bryant McKinnie appears headed for Baltimore

It looks like the Ravens will sign Bryant McKinnie to try to fix their tackle problem.

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports McKinnie has agreed to a deal. The Ravens came close to confirming the report via Twitter.

“Ravens are talking with OT Bryant McKinnie about a deal and are trying to complete it,” the team’s website writes.

Teams never mention deals in progress like that, so why would they here? Our guess is that McKinnie has agreed in principle, but still has to meet with the team and pass a physical. Considering his weight and health problems in Minnesota, that could be a significant hurdle.

This is a fine gamble if the price is low enough. The Ravens looked set to start a right tackle that was cut by the Patriots.

A guy as talented as McKinnie who started all last season is worth a look. The Ravens may move McKinnie to right tackle or possibly move Michael Oher from the blind side so McKinnie can play on the left.

All that weight on that team, must have shook loose an earthquake on the east coast.

Mckinnie is no more fatter, or out of shape then Adams was for us last season. Only difference is Mckinnie is a 9 time All Pro Tackle who hasn't given up a sack in 7 years. And ANYONE can drop 20 Lbs in a month. I think it is a good signing by Baltimore. Even if Mckinnie has lost a bit, he can still hold on plays and his Rep will get him a pass by the Refs most of the time. Don't be surprised if he is their starting LT against us, and holds Harrison sackless.

do you just make this stuff up? :wft

Bryant McKinnie Professional Career

In 2010, McKinnie allowed a sack that injured Brett Favre and stopped his consecutive regular season start streak at 297 games.

McKinnie was selected to his first NFL Pro Bowl game in the 2009 season, but before the event it was announced that he would not play in the game.

AND:

Bryant McKinnie to try again vs. Peppers

11/11/10

Minnesota Vikings left tackle Bryant McKinnie had a career highlight last season by earning a Pro Bowl spot, but he also had a career lowlight when he was benched after a rough December outing against Julius Peppers.

Asked if he's looking forward to the rematch, McKinnie said in an e-mail, ''Hell, yeah.''

McKinnie struggled against Peppers -- then with the Panthers -- and committed one false start and allowed one sack and several quarterback pressures.

''It was a bad game, and it bothered me,'' McKinnie said. ''I didn't feel I was at my best.''

Until then, McKinnie had never been benched at any level.

Peppers has notched five sacks against McKinnie in five career games.

Maybe I was thinking of someone else :Bow I still say McKinnie is better then anything we have. And we should have looked at him no matter what his weight. Weight can be lost. I can take any 400 Lb person, and inside 2 months have him less then 330 Lbs, and 12 & body fat. I gotta think PROFESSIONAL trainers could do that as well. But either way, our O-Line has issues. I wouldn't be surprised if we give up more then 60 sacks this season.
